Location: Round Rock, TX (Onsite)
Reporting to the V.P. of Supply Chain, the Import/Export and Logistics Manager will manage the shipping process from the point of origin to the final destination and establish, oversee, and continuously improve the company import and export process flows in conformance with the applicable rules, procedures, and company policy. This newly created role will implement import/export controls to ensure compliance with U.S. and Mexico Customs and International Regulations, guaranteeing that the trade compliance functions are performed according to the legal framework. Lead logistics requirements in terms of shipping lane assessment, shipping lead times, and strategy on the preferred mode of transportation depending on product and business requirements. The ideal candidate should have proven experience as an Import and Export Manager or similar role in international trade and possess strong leadership skills, leading people, cross-functional teams, and 3PLs in a matrix environment to deliver results. This is a full-time position based at our Round Rock, TX location.
- Be Infinitum's expert in Customs Regulations and International Trade Compliance for both finished goods and raw materials.
- Manage import and export shipment activities, including customs clearance and documentation, to assure compliance with U.S. and Mexico Trade Laws.
- Owner of the whole shipping process from the point of origin to final delivery.
- Responsible for the total cost of transportation, duties, and taxes.
- Management of U.S. & Mexico Customs brokers, freight forwarders, and 3PLs.
- Monitor and track shipments to ensure on-time delivery and address any delays or disruptions.
- Maintain the Import/Export database daily for all inbound import and export shipments (ocean and ground).
- Provide import/export classification support to all business units and manufacturing locations.
- Analyze engineering data sheets and technical questionnaires to aid the adjudication of Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) and Export Control Classification Number (ECCN) for Infinitum components.
- Maintain import/export control data, including but not limited to COO, ECCN, HTS, and import/export license requirements.
- Verify U.S. and Mexico Customs entries, including assuring the proper HTS code is used.
- Collaborate with the Finance department in analyzing freight and import/export costs and inventory investments.
- Support programs and projects to take advantage of Free Trade Agreements (including management of certificates of origin), other duty-savings opportunities, and operating efficiency.
- Lead projects to reduce the cost of logistics, duties, and taxes.
- Maintain key performance metrics to evaluate the supply chain efficiency.
- Assess the supply chain processes to identify and implement new reports and metrics.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
- Proven experience as an Import and Export Manager or similar role in international trade.
- 5+ years of experience in customs brokerage, freight forwarding, international transportation, or related fields.
- Strong working knowledge of U.S. and Mexico Trade Laws, Customs Regulations, Export Administration Regulations, Free Trade Agreements, and International Trade Regulations, especially those related to Inbond shipments.
- Familiarity with documents used in international transportation, including bills of lading, commercial invoices, packing lists, traceability records (SIMP), as well as licenses, permits, and other certifications.
- Advanced level proficiency with M.S. Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Proven fast, accurate data entry skills, strong organizational and multitasking skills.
- Strong leadership skills. Demonstrated ability to lead people, cross-functional teams, and 3PLs in a matrix environment to deliver results.
- Proven ability to think critically and creatively problem solve.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge of supply chain processes.
- U.S. Customs Broker License may be a plus.
- Maquila environment experience.
- Thorough knowledge and understanding of Mexican trade law framework and IMMEX Annex 24.
- Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, logistics, or a similar field.
