PROGRAMSUMMARY:
The Philadelphia Department of Public Health (PDPH), Division of Disease Control (DDC), works to prevent, control, and report on diseases and conditions that are contagious and/or affect the public's health. DDC helps prepare for public health emergencies and educate the community on how to stay safe and healthy.
The mission of the Immunization Program is to ensure equitable access to vaccines for all resident by educating patients and providers, analyzing data to identify obstacles to vaccination, and partnering with providers to improve vaccine delivery practices.
The Immunization Program coordinates the Vaccines for Children (VFC) and Vaccines for Adults at Risk (VFAAR) programs. The VFC program is a federally funded entitlement program that supplies providers, in both private and public health care facilities throughout Philadelphia, with free vaccines for eligible children. The VFAAR Program makes vaccine available to providers throughout Philadelphia who serve uninsured adults at high-risk for vaccine preventable diseases at no out of pocket cost to eligible individuals. The Immunization Program provides assessment and feedback to area medical providers and performs community-based outreach activities to families with under-immunized children. The Immunization Program also hosts a well-established immunization information system (IIS), PhilaVax, which all Philadelphia providers are mandated to report immunization data for all vaccines administered in Philadelphia.
*JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Immunization Compliance Specialist will collaborate with providers to ensure compliance with the CDC federal guidelines of the program. The Specialist will perform visits for federal vaccine programs, including but not limited to VFC, VFAAR, and Mpox. They will be responsible for scheduling the visits along with pre- and post-visit data collection and electronic entry. A visit summation, with recommended follow-up plans, is also provided post visit.
In this position, you will work closely with other Immunization program team members, including the Provider Quality Assurance (PQA) nurses, Storage and Handling team, Ordering Specialists, and Provider Education Coordinator to support all aspects of federal vaccine program for participating providers.
This is a dynamic role that requires someone who works well on a team, is extremely collaborative, but can also work independently in the field.

*RESPONSIBILITIES
• Conduct compliance visits to federal vaccine program -enrolled immunization providers to assess on-site vaccine storage & handling procedures, vaccine administration, reporting to the PhilaVax IIS, and ongoing immunization education needs.
• Collaborate with the VFC Coordinator, Adult Coordinator, PQA nurses, Storage and Handling Coordinator, Provider Education Coordinator, Communications team and other Immunization team members as needed, to implement required program activities.
• Review patient charts for program compliance and work closely with immunization staff to ensure data quality.
• Enter data and findings from the site visit into an online database and provide a summary of findings to the provider.
• Deliver and pick up federal vaccine and equipment as needed.
• Attend monthly Immunization Program and appropriate team meetings to facilitate communication and coordination of job responsibilities. Attend/participate in other activities with other DDC programs as needed.
• Support PDPH response to real-life public health emergencies as required.
• Other duties as necessary.
*SKILLS
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Must be comfortable talking with medical personnel at various levels, from office managers to physicians.
• Must be able to work independently, but also be team oriented.
• Demonstrated proficiency in MS Office, demonstrated ability to learn new computer applications, comfort using databases, and proficiency utilizing on-line data management platforms.
• Knowledge of:
o Surveillance, prevention, and control of vaccine preventable diseases.
o The ACIP immunization schedule
o Quality Improvement (QI)
• Must be able to lift up to 50lbs.
• Must be eligible to work legally in the United States.
• Must possess a valid driver's license.
*EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:
• Clinical experience is beneficial.
• 3-5 years of experience.
*SALARY:
• $50,000 - $54,000- Commensurate with experience.
