The AVP, Business Risk Officer within Banking, Capital Markets and Advisory (BCMA) works side by side with the Policy and Governance Lead Director and the VP Business Risk Officer of the group on various issues with global business impact as needed. Solid understanding of industry risk and control related standards and practices, and ability to work in a team environment to accomplish the objectives of the subfunction/ job family are essential requirements of the job. The AVP will apply analytical skills and knowledge of risk and controls to break down information in a systematic and communicable manner. The role requires attention to detail when making judgments and recommendations based on the analysis of factual information. Quality and timeliness of service provided will affect the effectiveness of own team and other closely related teams.
Responsibilities:
- Work closely with the Global Policy and Governance Lead and the VP In-Business Risk Officer to carry out a number of key global BCMA deliverables
- Assist in the assessment of relevant Citi policies, standards, and procedures and their impact on BCMA business/processes/related documentation and coordinate feedback from the group
- Assist in the assessment of relevant BCMA business, processes, and related documentation to identify potential gaps, and maintain evidence of revisions and approvals
- Assist in the administration of monthly BCMA Business Risk & Control Committee (BRCC) process, including related follow ups
- Assist in the coordination of responses to key governance committees, audit and 2LOD requests, and other key global projects, as needed
- Liaise with business and line control officers on any deficiencies or control gaps, as well as follow up on appropriate remedial actions
- Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency
- Identify emerging risks/issues for the business in the context of the ORM and ICG Risk and Control frameworks and escalate to management for appropriate resolution
Qualifications:
- 4-5 years' experience in Operational Risk, Audit, Compliance, Legal or other control function
- Knowledge of risk and Governance frameworks
- Ability to review firm policies with the lens of potential impact on the business
- Experience in working with the various risk and control programs/systems, and reporting requirements
- Excellent organizational skills, ability to multitask and adapt to change
- Problem solver with the ability to translate plans in actions
- Analytical skills, with the ability to identify root causes and trends and anticipate horizon issues
- Consistently demonstrates clear and concise written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office
- Self-motivated and detail oriented
