OUR IMPACT
The Natural Resources Group is a global team with bankers around the world. The group has a significant presence with offices in New York, Houston, Toronto, Calgary, London, Hong Kong and Buenos Aires, among others. The group covers Metals & Mining, Chemicals, Power & Utilities, and Energy (including Alternative and Renewable Energy and Oil and Gas).
The Acquisitions and Divestitures (A&D) team is fully integrated within Goldman Sachs’ Natural Resources investment banking franchise and is based in Houston and Calgary. The team is responsible for executing asset acquisition and Divestitures, supporting Mergers and Acquisitions (M&A) efforts through technical evaluations, leading business development initiatives and generally supporting coverage efforts in the Natural Resources Group
HOW YOU WILL FULFILL YOUR POTENTIAL
An A&D associate at Goldman Sachs gains exposure to the firm’s businesses and expanded knowledge of the investment banking industry, as they develop key engineering, geological, analytical, communications, marketing and sales skills. Associates develop economic assumptions, perform customized asset/company valuation analyses, and are actively involved in A&D and M&A transactions among others. Associates organize and prepare presentations, which explain industry trends, assess clients’ situations to provide the necessary engineering/financial advice, and recommend strategies to meet client goals.
Responsibilities include:
- Creating and analyzing financial models, helping manage transaction processes and assisting in structuring transactions
- Developing NAV models, performing precedent transaction analysis for A&D transactions as well as supporting the firm’s M&A transactions in all energy verticals
- Organizing and preparing presentations which explain industry trends, operator’s activity, and other oil & gas specific analysis
- Running Aries, Spotfire and other typical industry software suites to develop key inputs and assumptions in development models and type curve analysis
- Seeking advanced methods to automate key analysis workflows
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCES WE ARE LOOKING FOR
- Bachelor’s degree and at least 3 years of work experience in petroleum engineering or equivalent
- Significant ARIES experience
- Advanced Excel modelling skills considered an asset
- Experience in analyzing onshore US fields required
- Strong communication and presentation skills
