The World Equestrian Center located in Ocala, Florida is searching for a Hunter/Jumper Assistant Managerto join our team!
We are seeking an individual with a strong background in Hunter/Jumper show facility management to serve as the Assistant Hunter/Jumper Horse Show Manager. In this role, you will be responsible for oversight and upkeep of the venue, managing the show office staff (including independent contractors,) managing events from start to finish, and providing support for the day-to-day operation of the show. Ideal candidate will be meticulous, detail oriented, and possess exceptional customer service and communication skills. The ideal candidate will have experience running a horse showing facility; with first-hand familiarity in large national equestrian sport venues being favored. Exemplary leadership skills and event planning experience. Overall, we are looking for an individual with the ability to manage any situation, both with customers and behind the scenes, to keep the largest venue in the country thriving with quality, class and distinction. Primary Responsibilities:
- Assist with operations and planning of Hunter/Jumper sport events and other equestrian activities- - Understand each role needed to operate a Hunter/Jumper event, assess the strengths and weaknesses of each team member to ensure appropriate tasks are assigned for maximum efficiency.
- Manage and respond to concerns and requests of exhibitors and event personnel as needed.
- Maintain open and effective communication with superiors and staff.
- Possess a clear understanding of the USEF rule book as it relates to Hunter/Jumper sport and the rules that pertain to competition.
- Set and maintain a high standard of excellence, that will inspire staff, for overall facility cleanliness and conditions.
- Prepare class schedules for complex, multi-ring competitions with an understanding of which events can run concurrently, combined, split, and the official requirements for each event.
- Coordinate with show officials and assist in creating officials’ rotations
- Provide knowledge and understanding of prize money requirements and allocations for each event, including the preparation of competition prize lists.
- Provide marketing insight and recommendations as they relate to competitions and attracting exhibitors.
- Prepare and manage to an operating budget for competitions and facility, including understanding and explaining variances to weekly or monthly Profit & Loss Statements. Track and manage labor and other operating expenses within budgeted allocations.

Qualifications, Education, Experience, Skills, and Abilities:
- 3+ years equestrian facility management experience.
- 3+ years’ experience in Hunter Jumper sporting events including 3+ years’ experience in FEI competitions.
- 3+ years’ experience in leading and organizing large teams.
- 10+ years equestrian sports background (high caliber show settings preferred).
- Ability to self-manage to meet long-term and short-term deadlines
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions, and communicate effectively in the same manner.
- Exceptional rapport building skills for both staff and clientele.
* Please note this position is located in Ocala Florida and requires the candidate to work onsite full time.
