Title:Human Resources Specialist
Purpose: To help fulfill the mission of Hill Country Christian School of Austin by providing Human Resources, benefits administration, payroll, and business office support.
Accountability: Reports to the Human Resource Manager
FLSA Status: Exempt, Full-Time
Qualifications/Skills:
· Must be a Christ-follower who upholds, in word and deed, the Hill Country Christian School of Austin’s Core Values and Statement of Faith.
· Must faithfully attend a church whose fundamental beliefs are in agreement with the Statement of Faith of this school.
· A two-year college degree or three years to five years of similar or related experience.
· Excellent computer skills to include spreadsheets, word processing, database management, and record keeping.
· Must have ability to pay close attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
· Ability to exhibit a high degree of confidentiality.
Responsibilities:
With respect to benefits:
· Manage employee benefit programs, including the open enrollment process and COBRA, and employer communication.
· Provide day-to-day benefits administration services. Assist employees with any claim issues or concerns.
· Process enrollments, changes, and terminations of participants in all benefit plans and programs.
- Reconcile monthly benefits billing statements against payroll deductions and resolve all discrepancies.
- Administer disability and worker’s compensation claims.
With respect to personnel and payroll:
· Handle all administrative tasks for onboarding, new hire orientation, and terminations, including entering data into HR information systems and auditing for accuracy and compliance.
· Responsible for the administration of the Human Resources information system (HRIS). Serve as the school contact and expert on the overall system and various modules.
· Prepare and track employment agreements for existing employees and new hires.
· Provide payroll processing support. Maintain the payroll database and files.
· Maintain the personnel database. Periodically audit the data. Prepare and analyze reports that are necessary to manage the Human Resources aspect of the school.
· Assist as required with performance evaluation templates and resources.
· Maintains the Human Resources database to include payroll and benefit information.
· Processes payroll and audits payroll reports to ensure accuracy for salary increases, benefit and payroll deductions, and payroll adjustments.
With respect to compliance:
· Administer the 401(k) plan and complete yearly compliance reporting. Ensure compliance with 401K eligibility requirements.
· Maintain personnel files in compliance with applicable legal requirements.
· Manage the filing, auditing, and disposal of I-9 forms (Employment Eligibility Verification).
· Ensure compliance with federal and state statutes for Affordable Care Act (ACA), Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO), the Americans With Disabilities Act (ADA), the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA), the Department of Labor, worker compensation, sexual harassment, and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA).
· Manage document retention and destruction for all HR records according to school policy.
Other Responsibilities :
· Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.
· Interact in a Christ-like manner at all times. Utilize the interpersonal relationship method of “Matthew 18” as commanded by Jesus Christ.
· Perform other duties as assigned.
Physical Requirements:
· Must be able to remain in a stationary position the majority of the time.
· Frequently move about inside campus buildings and outside on the grounds.
· Operate a computer much of the time and frequently a copy machine.
· Must be able to exchange accurate and professional information whether in person, via email, or via telephone. Frequently communicates with co-workers and others.
· Possess physical stamina required to fulfill the professional obligations of the specific faculty assignment. Occasional lifting of 5 to 20 pounds.
· Must be flexible and adapt to various schedules and administrative changes.
· Ability to work in a semi-open office setting with frequent interruptions.
· Possible exposure to a variety of childhood and adult diseases and illnesses.
