HUMAN RESOURCES MANAGER - NYC


Salary Range: $90,000 - $100,000

Position Summary

The Human Resources Manager performs professional level Human Resources work and carries out responsibilities in one or more of the functional areas, such as staffing, employee relations, benefits, training, employment, and safety. The Human Resources Manager will work directly with the Director, People - NYC to improve and facilitate all Human Resources policies, programs and processes for our NYC locations. This role primarily focuses on employee relations and compliance. This position reports to the Director, People - NYC.


Job Functions/Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with Hiring Managers on recruitment processes, aiding in talent acquisition, interviews, and onboarding for both management and hourly level roles.

  • Conducts new hire orientation and training for managerial level staff on policies and procedures.

  • Partner with the Talent Acquisition Team on recruiting efforts, job postings and candidate sourcing for the NYC locations.

  • With the support of the Director, People - NYC, oversee all employee relations functions including handling complaints, mediation and conducting investigations to ensure a legal and appropriate resolution.

  • Assists Managers with employee inquiries, performance review process, hiring, coaching, counseling, and terminations.

  • Manages disciplinary action and termination processes and documentation.

  • Communicate with Managers to ensure proper practices are being followed.

  • Handles employment-related inquiries and/or concerns from employees and escalates to the Director, People - NYC as needed.

  • Collaborate with the Payroll department to support with processing new hires, employee transfers, terminations, pay increases, bonuses, PTO requests and COVID sick pay.

  • Assists with planning and execution of benefit programs, promoting participation and ensuring accurate record-keeping.

  • Assists with the administration of all employee leave of absences, including follow-ups.

  • Handles requests for employment verifications.

  • Manages required HR training modules related to compliance and HR processes.

  • Assists in company-wide and individual professional development initiatives, such as the tracking of individual development plans and managerial interventions.

  • Assists with the preparation and tracking of the performance review process.

  • Assists in the management of company culture events such as team building activities and offsites.

  • Attend standing operations meetings and pre-shifts to provide and communicate any pertinent information on projects or other activities.

  • Maintain accurate HR records, ensuring confidentiality and compliance with legal standards.

  • Audits internal HR systems (payroll) periodically to ensure compliance standards are met.

  • Assists with maintaining compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices.

  • Stay current on recent federal, state and local law changes and monitor labor law updates and newsletters for changes that affect Human Resources policies.

  • Serves as a role model and sets a positive example in all aspects of the business.

  • Must be able to maintain a schedule availability flexible to the business demands.

  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as required or requested per business needs.


Knowledge, Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred.

  • PHR or other Human Resources Certification preferred, but not required.

  • 3 - 5+ years of Human Resources experience, food & beverage industry preferred.

  • Proficiency working with HRIS software, preferably Harri, and Google Workspace.

  • Bilingual in Spanish a plus

  • Strong leadership and coaching skills. Inspire and motivate others to perform well and accept feedback.

  • Collaborative work style and ability to work effectively across departments

  • Exercise good judgment and role model professional behavior.

  • Readily adjusts to circumstances and manages change effectively.

  • Problem-solving ability. Must be able to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner and gather and analyze information skillfully.
