Human Resources Intern
Job Description:
HITT Contracting is seeking a summer intern to join our Human Resources team in our Falls Church, VA, headquarters office from the end of May through early August. The HR intern will be provided with an overview of our department's many functions, including recruiting, corporate responsibility, talent development, benefits, payroll, compliance, and HR business partnership. This intern will be sponsored throughout the summer by the Senior Associate of Team Member Engagement and will be receive mentorship from several HR team members.
The ideal candidate is pursuing a degree in Human Resources or a related field and will be a senior during the 2024-2025 school year. This individual possesses a high attention to detail in all tasks, ranging from HR operations support to taking on challenging special projects. To excel in this position, one must have a positive attitude, a sense of accountability, excellent communication skills, and the ability to maintain absolute confidentiality in all business matters.

RESPONSIBILITIES
• Support our talent acquisition efforts by reviewing resumes, conducting candidate prescreens, providing feedback to hiring managers, and scheduling interviews
• Assist the HITT Futures Program with programming of the Construction Internship, coordinating intern events, and preparing material for the internship learning curriculum
• Assist in planning and executing various employee engagement and appreciation events, both at HQ and in support of our regional offices
• Facilitate aspects of onboarding and orientation, preparing for new hires and conducting office tours, etc.
• Complete other tasks and projects as assigned by various HR stakeholders
• Able to commit to the entire 10-week internship program
QUALIFICATIONS
• Excellent writing and communication skills are required
• Strong interpersonal and active listening skills
• Must be able to work efficiently in a deadline-oriented environment while maintaining quality
• Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Excel and PowerPoint
• Knowledge of fundamental HR principles and practices
• Self-starter with a can-do attitude who is resourceful, a critical thinker, and a problem-solver
• Possesses a strong desire to learn and be challenged
