Job Description
North Wind Group is seeking a highly motivated and detail oriented Human Resources Intern to support our HR functional department. We are looking for an individual in the early stages of their career to gain real-world experience working in the federal contracting industry with our company. Our goal for this position is to provide a welcoming learning environment for optimal growth for our interns, and to provide the most fulfilling learning experience possible.
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Responsible for effectively and accurately recording, maintaining, and reporting human resource information.
    • Data entry into HRIS
    • Raising personnel actions
    • Filing and maintaining records while ensuring compliance
    • Statistical reporting on personnel data
    • Completing onboarding activities for new hires
    • Coordinating post offer-pre-employment drug screens and background screens.
  • Responsible for establishing and maintaining professional working relationships with
    • Applicants
    • Visitors
    • Employees
    • Functional departments
    • Members of the leadership team.
  • Responsible for establishing and maintaining effective communication, coordination and working relationships with Company personnel and with management.
    • Assists in training new employees
    • Coordinates with related departments as required
    • Keeps management appropriately informed of area activities and of any significant problems
    • Attends and participates in meetings as required.
  • Assumes responsibility for related administrative duties as required or assigned.
Qualifications
Education and Experience:
  • High School Diploma
  • Pursuing bachelor's degree in Human Resources or a related field preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Minimum knowledge required to perform adequately in this position will require general knowledge of specialized rules, procedures, and practices.
  • Requires strong interpersonal and communication skills in dealing with others to ensure that customer requests or needs are met.
  • Performs duties within scope of general policies, procedures, and objectives.
  • Analyzes problems and performs needs assessments.
  • Uses judgment in adapting broad guidelines to achieve desired result.
  • Strong organizational and data management skills.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office suite applications.

Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be sitting for long periods of time in an office environment, but will also be required to stand, walk, and talk or hear. The employee is often required to use hands or fingers to handle or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds.
