About Our Internship Program
Throughout the course of the internship, interns either work on-site or virtually and have regular events, weekly lunch and learn session and receive training customized by our business units. This unique opportunity to gain valuable insights into supporting the needs of Stanley Black & Decker both in the US and Globally. The interns will understand first-hand what a career at Stanley Black & Decker is like and have the opportunity to build a cross-functional professional network. Additional social activities are planned throughout the internship period to provide opportunity to network with SBD professionals. Interns are expected to adapt to change and demonstrate strong interpersonal and communication skills, creativity and self-confidence. Interns must be team oriented and able to work collaboratively.
As the Human Resource Intern, you'll be part of our Stanley Black and Decker Infrastructure team, located onsite in Ooltewah, TN or Dexter, MI. The Human Resources Intern assists in implementing Human Resources processes & programs and provides professional services to all employees in a fair and equal manner to meet the needs of the facility. You'll get to:
  • Work together with the HR team, employees, supervisors, and managers to resolve employee relations issues as they arise, including partnering with HR Managers on investigations; Counsel employees to improve or correct performance issues and deficiencies.
  • Implement and monitor adherence to all organization-specific Human Resource related policies, procedures, and practices, and act as a liaison to staff regarding policies.
  • Lead projects that involve driving employee engagement, tracking training, and improving our training & development programs.
  • Support payroll for both the salaried and hourly workforce.
  • Process, e-file, and maintain employment records according to federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Staffing activities such as Recruiting, job postings, selection process, orientations, and retirements
  • Prepare reports and metrics to measure HR effectiveness.
  • Attend department, hourly, and salaried meetings as required

The Person:
The Summer Human Resources intern candidate will preferably have the following qualifications:
  • Actively pursuing a Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Industrial-Organizational Psychology, or related field
  • Detail-oriented with organizational and time management skills
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills and the ability to conduct meetings or presentations
  • Ability to communicate with individuals at all levels of the facility
  • Experience with Google Suite and/or Microsoft Office Suite preferred
