The Baltimore Sun is hiring a Human Resource Generalist/ Business Partner.
This role will be responsible for providing guidance and solutions to the Chief Editor and Publisher and his managers on people related matters. Additionally, the Human Resource Generalist/ Business Partner plays a critical role in driving a people strategy aligned with the Baltimore Sun’s business objectives, mission and values.
The primary responsibilities include coaching and guiding managers and employees on talent management, employee and labor relations, compensation, performance, team effectiveness, learning and development, and other related initiatives. Responsibilities:
- Build relationships with employees and their union representatives, and managers
- Act as a trusted and credible partner who anticipates needs and proactively recommends solutions.
- Provide credible HR guidance, advice, and support.
- Serve as liaison with clients to manage and resolve complex employee and labor relations issues.
- Partner with the legal department and labor relations as needed to reduce legal risks and ensure regulatory compliance.
- Full desk recruiting as needed
- Identify training and other organizational development needs for business teams and individuals.
- Lead/implement complex HR programs and projects that improve talent management functions across your client departments (job profile review, reporting structures, recruiting processes, compensation studies, and more).
- Support change efforts by providing consulting support, guidance and a framework for leading and managing change.
- Work with managers to develop succession/talent planning efforts that ensure the teams have the talent needed to deliver on their strategy.
- Collaborate as required with other support functions.
Basic Qualifications:
- 3 years of experience in an HR Business Partner or Generalist role working with union leaders and union employees.
- Broad expertise in organizational behavior, change management, talent management, policy implementation, employee relations and communications.
- Collaborative and able to build trust at all levels.
- Able to navigate difficult conversations effectively using conflict resolution, facilitation skills.
- Willingness to take unpopular stands when necessary and to challenge the status quo.
- Ability to organize and track quantitative data, analyze and identify trends, and provide actionable recommendations based on data analysis.
- Proven negotiation, conflict resolution, influencing and stakeholder management skills.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
