POSITION SUMMARY: Perform Human Resources related duties at the administrative and professional level including responsibilities in employee relations, training, recruiting, hiring, and labor relations.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Work every scheduled work day including weekends and overtime as required.
- Understand and comply with all PPE requirements at all times, work safely every day and encourage all team members to do the same.
- Monitor and apply Human Resources plans, policies and procedures (corporate and/or facility) equally for all facility personnel.
- Monitor and ensure compliance to all personnel policies and procedures, including Serva’s Employee Handbook, benefits administration, FMLA, Affirmative Action Plan, facility wage scales, safety rules, etc.
- Execute recruitment, hiring and onboarding processes for all nonexempt facility personnel including new hire orientation, Welding School placement, mentoring program placement, etc. and complete documentation for all employee files.
- Administer Pay-for-Skills and Disciplinary Action programs to ensure equal Workforce Development opportunities for all nonexempt employees.
- Perform employee relations counseling, outplacement counseling and exit interviews and generate employee termination packages and other documentation.
- Establish and maintain departmental records and reports and report out as required.
- Evaluate department reports, decisions, and results in relation to established goals and recommend new approaches, policies, and procedures to ensure continuous improvements in efficiency and timing of services performed.
- Represent management in investigating, answering, and settling employee claims, grievances, disputes, etc.
- Respond to inquiries and requests from governmental agencies, such as EEOC and NLRB.
- Prepare and submit daily, weekly, monthly and yearly paperwork and reports as required.
- Provide training and assistance to other employees as assigned.
- Follow action and communication protocols for nonstandard deviation in processes.
- Serve on facility Safety and Activities committees and perform other duties as assigned.
SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
- Commitment to a safety culture where safety is the first consideration before starting any task.
- Strong computer skills with emphasis on TimeClock Plus, UltiPro and Microsoft Office including Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
- Effective knowledge and understanding of Human Resources’ systems/processes/procedures.
- Strong coaching and counseling skills.
- Exceptional oral and written communication skills.
- Good analytical and planning skills.
- Proficient in problem analysis and resolution.
- Strong team player.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s or Associates Degree in HR or combination of education/experience in a related field.
- Three to five years of experience in Human Resources preferred.
- PHR or SHRM certification preferred.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- The performance of this position will require exposure to the manufacturing areas where all areas require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, hearing protection, steel toe shops and other mandatory safety equipment.
- For the most part, ambient temperatures with typical plant lighting and manufacturing equipment are present throughout the facility.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Sitting or standing as needed.
- Walking primarily on a level surface for periodic periods throughout the day.
- Reaching, pushing, pulling or lifting as required within limits set by SERVA.
