The Human Resources Generalist (HRG) will provide front line HR support to corporate HR functions reporting to the Human Resources Manager. The HRG will assist the HR department in carrying out programs, processes, policies, and procedures including duties related to employee engagement, retention, onboarding, training, benefit administration, FMLA/leave of absence administration, employee recordkeeping, and compliance with state and federal employment laws. The incumbent will join the Appleton or Madison HR team and act as the face of Human Resources for employee relations along with daily tactical and administrative employee life-cycle functions, under the direction of HR leadership.
The HRG will process employee records in accordance with employment regulations, support the performance management process, assist leadership in disciplinary management and assist with the preparation and maintenance of HR policies/procedures including the employee handbook.

How do I make an impact on my team?
- Serve as point of contact at assigned campus for employee relations. Act as liaison and advocate for both employee and manager concerns and questions by providing timely and accurate information within established practice, policies, and procedures.
- Manage leave of absence administration in accordance with FMLA standards for designated employee population.
- Manage aspects of new hire onboarding including verification of employment forms and assist with enrollment of new hires in benefit plans.
- Provide administrative assistance for the Performance Management System, as needed.
- With a positive, customer-focused approach, establish and maintain professional working relationships throughout the organization.
- Participate in HR supported initiatives including the NEAT (Activity Team), Naviwell (Wellness Program) and NaviGive (Community/Charitable) committees.
- Ensure secure HR employee recordkeeping following all compliance requirements.
- Manage personnel file maintenance and assist with all required auditing preparation and delivery.
- Assist with preparation and maintenance of company policies and employee handbook.
- Participate in process improvement activities and work in conjunction with HR team to build and enhance HR processes.
What our team expects from you?
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management or business-related discipline, or equivalent work experience required
- Minimum of three years’ experience as a Human Resources professional required with at least one year in a dedicated HR Generalist role preferred
- Knowledge of general Human Resource programs, policies and procedures related to employee relations, recruitment, compensation, benefits, EEO/AAP administration, FMLA administration, understanding of state and federal laws related to employment practice strongly desired
- Intermediate to Advanced Word, Excel, and PowerPoint skill level preferred
- Knowledge of/experience with HRIS products (ADP, Workforce Now) and Applicant Tracking Systems is preferred
- Participate in, adhere to, and support compliance program objectives
- The ability to consistently interact cooperatively and respectfully with other employees
