Human Resources Generalist

Job Summary:
The Human Resource Generalist will help with the daily functions of the Human Resource (HR) department including hiring and interviewing staff, administering pay, benefits, and leave, and enforcing company policies and practices. As a member of the management leadership team, they are expected to contribute as a role model for coaching, mentoring, and leadership development to support the evolution and growth of Dramm’s business in a manner that is consistent with our values.
Working Relationships:
The HR Generalist must interact with management as well as fellow employees (their ‘customers’). They must be approachable, and always present a professional appearance and positive attitude when dealing with all internal and external individuals.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Draft corporate HR policies including employee manual updates and standard operating procedures.
- The HR Generalist will collaborate with managers and supervisors to ensure consistent application of policies and procedures across our entire workforce.
- Help maintain all HR databases within the organization including benefits database, training logs and personnel files.
- Review, track, and document compliance with mandatory and non-mandatory training, continuing education, and work assessments. This may include safety training, leadership training and anti-harassment training,
- Recruit, interview, and facilitate the hiring of qualified job applicants for open positions; collaborate with departmental managers to understand skills and competencies required for openings.
- Conduct or acquire background checks and employee eligibility verifications.
- Implement new hire orientation and employee recognition programs.
- The HR Generalist will perform routine tasks required to administer and execute human resource programs including but not limited to compensation, benefits, and leave; disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; performance and talent management; productivity, recognition, and morale; occupational health and safety; and training and development.
- Ensure that the performance review and compensation plan is implemented and consistent.
- Oversee employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff.
- Attend and participate in employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations..
- The HR Generalist maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.
- Maintain knowledge of trends, regulatory changes, and new technologies in Human Resources, talent management, and employment law.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

- Proficiency with or the ability to quickly learn the organization’s HRIS and talent management systems.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s or Associate degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.
- 2+ years of progressive Human Resources experience; handling all areas of HR.
- Experience in organizational development with skill in advising/educating managers on best practices including coaching, mentoring, collaboration, leadership development, training, and tension and conflict resolution.
- Experience using a performance management system.
- Online employee self-assessments etc.
- SHRM-CP or PHR or willingness to complete in future.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- The HR Generalist will frequently use their hands/fingers to operate a computer and other office productivity machinery, copy machine and computer printer.
- Must be able to listen to staff on the phone and those who are served in-person and speak clearly to communicate information to customers and other employees.
- Must be able to access and navigate each department at the organization’s facilities.
- Occasionally must be able to lift and/or move objects up to fifteen pounds.
