Job Description

The Human Resource Generalist position interfaces with station leadership, safety, training and administrative staff to provide Human Resource support for personnel-related functions at the station level. This role carries out responsibilities in one or more of the following areas: employee relations, performance management, time & attendance accountability, on-the-job injuries, leaves and accommodation and other administrative functions as needed. The position requires the ability to exercise discretion and independent judgment when identifying and resolving employee related matters.


The pay band for this role is $65,500 - $93,580.


The Hiring Target for this role is $65,500 - $85,000.


This role reports to the Regional Manager, Human Resources.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Use experience and professional judgment to effectively and continuously improve HR services performed at the station level under only general supervision
  • Build collaborative relationships with station leaders and team members to improve relationships, strengthen morale, and increase employee engagement and retention
  • Participate in developing engagement and retention goals and objectives at the station level
  • Partner with station leaders and team members to deliver a high-level of customer service; respond to all team member inquiries in a timely and appropriate manner
  • Liaison with business owners and use initiative to ensure team member experience is best-in-class.
  • Prepare and present comprehensive and factual written conclusions of investigative findings and recommendations, as well as communicate the decision to the employees
  • Provide guidance and counsel without direct oversight to station leadership on performance management issues, including coaching conversations, investigatory meetings, and administration of progressive discipline
  • Provide oversight of attendance accountability and reliability efforts, including making decisions, recommendations and preparing documents related to coaching and discipline
  • Partner with the administrative staff through completion of job injury reporting to ensure accurate and timely completion of required documentation, leave communication, tracking and recording status and progress, station file maintenance, and administration of a modified duty program
  • Partner with Absence Management on issues related to leaves of absences or accommodations
  • Interpret, implement, and ensure compliance with complex federal, state, and local laws and regulations, collective bargaining agreement, and organizational policies and procedures
  • Effectively deploy and support change to management initiatives by communicating new, changing, and existing policies and procedures while enforcing and ensuring understanding and compliance
  • Support recruiting activities, including hiring and onboarding events as needed
  • Research and analyze HR metrics to provide insights and recommendations for metrics such as time to hire, employee turnover, performance and attendance reliability
  • Maintain confidentiality and ensure secure handling of applicant and team member information as well as company data
  • Identify areas of opportunity and develop and implement solutions to improve workplace environments and organizational culture
  • Implement and support various projects and initiatives to streamline HR processes by setting timelines and schedules, conducting research, analyzing data and making recommendations.

  • Perform professional-level HR duties in a variety of assigned disciplines/areas.
  • Other duties as assigned


QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in business, communication, Human Resources or related discipline preferred
  • Minimum of 3 years of Human Resources experience specializing in Employee Relations or equivalent required
  • Ability to interpret and apply regulations, policies, and procedures, including collective bargaining provisions required
  • Ability to use initiative and independent judgment within established procedural guidelines
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills, with the ability to think and write analytically required
  • Self-starter with strong organization and time management skills; ability to organize own work, set priorities, and meet critical deadlines under only general supervision
  • Ability to maintain thorough and accurate records while carrying projects through timely completion
  • Ability to effectively problem-solve and determine win-win solutions without direct oversight
  • Positive, team-oriented and adaptable to a dynamic environment with flexibility to assist with special projects during high demand and based on operational needs
  • Ability to maintain reliable attendance
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule
  • Ability to obtain and maintain airport security clearance as required
  • Much be at least 18 years
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
