Job Summary:
The HR Generalist is responsible for supporting one or more business units with the administration of Human Resources processes as the front line Generalist to ensure workforce compliance with all company rules, local, state, and federal employment laws. The HR Generalist ensures accurate recordkeeping and documentation, including background checks, employment verifications, etc. The HR Generalist reports directly to the SR. HR Manager and completes essential duties in the HR department.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
- Conducts background checks and employment verifications in a timely manner.
- Communicates directly with new hires by sending welcome emails and providing new hire packets in a timely manner, answering requests and questions.
- Prepares and administers onboarding plan and new hire packets to ensure accurate information. Completes the creation and maintenance of new employee files.
- Prepares all employees' payroll action forms (PAF) for leave status, return-to-work, and other changes in a timely and confidential manner.
- Processes employee separations by preparing documents, coordinating with payroll their final paycheck and conducting the exit interview process.
- Stays knowledgeable on company personnel policies, benefits, and procedures to provide accurate and timely information to employees and new hires.
- Assists with benefits administration and open enrollment as required.
- Manages employee relations and resolves any workplace issues.
Other Functions:
- Establishes and maintains interpersonal relationships with other departments and employees.
- Performs administrative activities, data entry, and documentation as required.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.

Travel:
This role is required to travel to up to 50%.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or related field.
- 2 years of experience in Human Resources required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Knowledge of principles and procedures for personnel recruitment, selection, training, compensation and benefits, labor relations and negotiation, and personnel information systems.
- Knowledge of principles and facts related to business administration and accounting, human and material resource management in organizations, sales and marketing, economics, and office information and organizing systems.
- Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services.
- Skill in understanding the implications of new information for both current and future problem-solving and decision-making.
- Skill in giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times.
- Skill in managing one's own time and the time of others.
- Ability to communicate information and ideas in writing and speaking effectively and clearly.
- Ability to concentrate on a task over a period of time without being distracted.
- Ability to apply general rules to specific problems to produce answers that make sense.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous work experience in transportation preferred.
