Carpinteria Unified School District is currently hiring a Human Resources Coordinator to serve in a 12 month confidential position within the District Office.
The Human Resources Coordinator is a working leadership position requiring considerable training in modern Human Resources management. Advancement to this position would require compliance with the minimum qualifications listed below and demonstrated competency in Human Resources functions and at working with administrators, boards, and employee associations. Advancement to Human Resources Manager requires the ability to facilitate labor negotiations, recruitment and selection committees, and conduct training.
Coordinates, oversees, and carries out a program of Human Resources services for credentialed and classified employees. Oversees and performs services in job classification, classified recruitment and selection, employee orientation, employee counseling, records, labor contract support, and employee status transactions. Coordinates assigned activities with other divisions, top administration and employee associations.
Qualifications:
Knowledge and Skills: Requires considerable specialized knowledge of the principles, practices, and procedures of classification, compensation, employment, conflict resolution, labor relations, and other personnel services. Requires special skill at facilitating small group processes, for resolving complex problems, and working with diverse groups (e.g., an advisory board, bargaining unit, and administrative team). Requires well-developed written language skills to prepare complex reports and to draft policies and procedures. Requires sufficient math skills to compute sums, averages, ratios, products, and quotients. Requires well-developed human relations skills to communicate technical concepts to others often in formal presentation settings, conduct training, build an effective team, counsel employees, and resolve confrontation.
Education and Experience: The position requires a Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in Human Resources management, behavioral science, business administration, or a closely related field. Requires a minimum of 2 years of experience in Human Resources. Alternatively, requires an Associates Degree and 6 years of experience.
