Job Description:
Fulfills the mission of Norwich University by performing tasks related to payroll and Human Resources data entry. Utilizes and improves technology systems pertaining to HR processes, reporting, auditing, or data collection.
Hybrid work schedule may be authorized.
Salary: $18.00/hour, or more depending on experience.
Essential Functions
- Processes student payroll in University payroll management system on a bi-weekly cycle
- Ensures proper and functional payroll procedures are being followed for processing across all company payrolls.
- Monitors Garnishments and manages vendor relationships.
- Processes invoices for the department.
- Collaborates with other HR team members to complete projects and tasks surrounding compensation and benefits related matters.
- Coordinates summer hire processes.
- Enters data for new and/or terminating employees, changes to employee records.
- Assists in producing and tracking faculty contracts.
- Assists with Open Enrollment process, communication, meetings, and data entry for employees.
- Assists employees in benefits enrollment as needed.
- Assists in benefits termination for departing employees.
- Orders office supplies.
- Ensures all compensation, payroll, benefits, or HR processes comply with applicable state and federal laws and regulations and Norwich University policies.
- Assists with HR projects as assigned.
Other Functions
- Maintains confidentiality of sensitive or private information.
- Communicates with employees, students, and others in a respectful and clear manner.
- Serves on University committees, councils, workgroups, or other designated bodies as assigned.
- Achieves, maintains proficiency in, and utilizes computers, telephones, and other job-related equipment, including related systems and software.
- Speaks, reads, and writes in English.
- Communicates by telephone, email, letter, in person, or other means or device.
- Performs other tasks as assigned by supervisor.
Requirements:
- High School diploma or equivalent; Associates degree or some college with coursework in Human Resources, management, business or related field desired; related professional certification a plus
- 1 year of experience in an administrative role. Experience payroll processing- full life-cycle a plus
- Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, SharePoint, Teams, and Outlook) required. Experience with ADP WorkForce Now and Banner a plus.
- Able to sit, squat, reach, push, pull, and manipulate related equipment; lift 10 pounds; travel outdoors to various parts of the campus
- Work some evening or weekend hours
