Position Summary:

The Human Resources Consultant (6 Month - 1099) acts as an internal consultant to the Human Resources organization. This position provides overall support in the development of Total Rewards and HR Operations. The Human Resources Consultant will play a key role in benchmarking positions, job evaluation, survey participation/management, data analysis, HCM implementation and documentation, and HR Operations process improvement. The Human Resources Consultant will also support the Sr Manager Compensation, Global Total Rewards in other compensation projects including the annual merit process, incentive planning, market adjustment initiatives, process improvement initiatives, and HRIS updates.

Job Accountabilities:

Core Activities:

  • Conduct both individual and large-scale Equity Reviews relative to market data, recommending appropriate job level, base and incentive compensation
  • Analysis and consultation of market data salary surveys Analyze results and produce reports, complete with summarized findings and recommendations across multiple countries
  • Evaluate job profiles by reviewing descriptions, analyzing best practice and benchmark data both internally and externally to align QH’s job evaluation methodology with the market while ensuring positions are internally equitable
  • Help develop training and communications programs to promote new or revised compensation plans to the organization
  • Participate in special projects such as development of compensation analysis tools, HCM implementation, process documentation, and policy improvement
  • Partner across the cross functional HR organization

Analysis, Research & Reporting:

  • Conduct analysis to evaluate internal equity, external competitiveness, and legal compliance in order to attract, motivate and retain key talent
  • Analyze internal and external compensation data to create comparative reports for internal stakeholders to provide insight into pay practices and give recommendations on compensation decisions
  • Conduct impact analyses to determine organizational and cost outcomes of proposed compensation initiatives
  • Research best practices in benefits, compensation, job evaluation, etc.

Project Management & Administration:

  • Conduct job evaluations, administer, and govern salary structure/pay grade levels, and respond to compensation-related inquiries
  • Partner in the planning of the annual compensation processes including merit planning, annual bonus, position benchmarking, and HCM implementation
  • Assist with the configuration of the compensation plans and processes in HRIS
  • Conduct training and education on compensation and benefits programs, as needed

Policy & Procedure Development:

  • Partner in developing and implementing compensation and benefits policies, plans, and procedures to align with business growth objectives and associate retention strategies
  • Provide cost-effective innovative solutions to compensation programs, including designing short and long-term incentive plans
  • Embrace the idea of continuous improvement and make recommendations for how we can streamline processes, and further progress our total rewards programs in line with industry trends and best practice
  • Develop and maintain an understanding of Quaker Houghton operations to ensure total rewards programs meet business needs

General:

  • Responsible for creating and maintaining all Standard Operation Procedures for the Compensation function
  • Intake associate questions and concerns in a friendly, supportive, and responsive manner; partner with subject matter experts to resolve issues as applicable
  • Assist with special ad hoc projects

Work Environment:

Hybrid

Education, Experience, Skills & Competencies:

Key Education or Certification Required:

Bachelor's degree required Degree in Human Resources, Business, or related field preferred

Required Minimum Number of Years of Relevant Experience:

4+ years’ experience with the analysis and administration of compensation programs; forecasting and administering organization wide pay changes Experience in a global science and manufacturing industries preferred

Required Skills and Competencies:

  • Highly proficient in Microsoft office applications with advanced skills in Microsoft Excel
  • High level of analytical ability
  • Flexible and Adaptable to change
  • Knowledge of compensation tools, programs and practices
  • High level of confidentiality, discretion, tact, diplomacy, and professionalism
  • Substantial interpersonal skills necessary in order to interact with employees and management at all levels in problem resolution and ability to partner with external sources for survey data collection
  • Knowledge of pertinent law and regulations such as Civil Rights Act, Equal Pay Act, Fair Labor Standards Act, and personnel administration theories and practices
  • Experience with conducting studies and preparing sound recommendations with justifiable rationale;
  • Experience with analyzing and interpreting policies, practices and procedures;
  • Experience with preparing written reports for varied audiences;
  • Experience with conducting research, analyzing information and data and presenting findings in a concise format;
  • Work with a Globally diverse population, both internally and externally
