As a HR Business Partner, you will act as a Business Partner operation by guiding operations leadership through the management of the hourly, unionized workforce within your assigned Business Center. This position will align strategically with the business center manager to drive results, increase engagement, improve performance, and win the day.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Provide employee relations and performance management support to the HR & Labor Relations Manager.
- Support business center and plant performance metric achievements through the identification, development, and implementation of improved systems and processes.
- Acts as mediator to monitor to support individual and plant concerns; spend time daily on the production floor; develop the image of management by assisting managers in their relationships and applications of the policies (and if applicable, contracts).
- Provide guidance to the Business Center on implementation of policies including corrective action, grievances, job transfers, etc. ensuring compliance to policies as well as fair and equitable implementation.
- Utilize metrics to drive performance with plant programs, team meetings, and ongoing improvements.
- Complies with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation; anticipating legislation; enforcing adherence to requirements; advising management on needed actions.
- Support payroll input and issues for the Business Center, to include attendance management.
- Support Company-wide safety initiatives through incident review meetings, communicating with plant medical personnel, and other actions.
- Desire to learn and develop Labor Relation acumen and contract interpretation.
- Performs other related duties as required and assigned.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or related field; relevant work experience considered in lieu of degree.
- Minimum three years’ experience in an HR role. Equivalent facility experience also considered.
- Experience in a manufacturing environment preferred. Union experience highly preferred.
- Must have excellent demonstrated interpersonal skills in dealing with team members throughout the organization.
- Required computer skills to include MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook as well as hardware and software applications used in the Human Resources function.
