Job description

Summary
This position is on the Criminal Division's (CRM) Office of Administration, Human Capital Team and supports CRM in prosecuting high profile and nationally significant cases. We work on routine matters related to training and employee development, performance management, employee relations, international operations, workforce analysis and succession planning, awards and recognition, and reasonable accommodations.

Duties
As a Human Resources Assistant, you will:
Have the opportunity to learn the elements of several areas of Federal Government Human Resources to include employee development, performance and employee relations;
Partner with HR Specialists to prepare training materials and track mandatory training;
Assist HR Specialists in running reports to determine employees' eligibilities for special recognition and coordinate the resulting form of recognition;
Assist with administrative functions of the Division's performance management program;
Participate in special projects as needed;
Provide general administrative support to staff; and
Learn the details of HR policies to be able to answer customers' HR questions.

Qualifications
To qualify at the GS-04 grade level, applicants must have completed 2 full academic years of post-high school study or an associate's degree; OR have 1 year of general experience to include: progressively responsible clerical, office, or other work that indicates ability to acquire the particular knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties of the position to be filled; OR have a combination of education and experience: equivalent combinations of successfully completed post-high school education and experience may be used to meet total experience requirements.
To qualify at the GS-05 grade level, applicants must have completed 4 academic years of post-high school study leading to a bachelor's degree or equivalent degree; OR have 1 year of specialized experience at, or equivalent to, the GS-04 grade level to include: performing a full range of standard clerical assignments; performing complex office automation duties; performing a variety of recordkeeping, reporting and informational duties; sorting and filing materials and case files; and producing a variety of materials such as spreadsheets, plans, procedures, memoranda, letters, travel requests, and/or presentations from rough drafts; OR have a combination of education and experience as listed below. Please note, only education in excess of 60 undergraduate hours may be used in this calculation.
Combination of Education and Experience - Your current education completed is credited as a percentage of the education required for the grade level and your current experience is credited as a percentage of the total experience required for the grade level. The two percentages are added and must equal 100% in order to qualify for the desired grade level.
All academic degrees and coursework must be completed at a college or university that has obtained accreditation or pre-accreditation status from an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education. For a list of schools that meet this criteria, see www.ed.gov.
Foreign Education: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show that the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university. All documentation must be in English or include an English translation.
