As a strategic partner, the HR Generalist helps align business objectives with employees and management at the company level. This position serves as a consultant primarily to front line supervisors on HR related issues and is key in helping assess and anticipate HR-related needs and communicating those to the HR Director and Plant Management.
The HR Generalist is a strong team member of the Human Resource Department/Team. Provides excellent customer service to Everidge’ s employees with the sense of urgency. Carries out responsibilities in the following areas: training, employee relations, performance management, staffing, benefits, HRIS system, recordkeeping, and safety; ensuring that they are in accordance with company policies and practices in addition to federal and state regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in ensuring compliance with department policies, procedures and applicable laws, rules, regulations.
- Apply continuous improvement principles in own work performance and drive continuous improvement application in company operations.
- Build strong successful working relationships with all levels of management and personnel.
- Identify, conduct, and developing plant wide training programs.
- Works closely with management and employees to foster an environment that promotes teamwork and continuous improvement in all areas of the business.
- Assist with performance management related activities (coaching, counseling, career development and disciplinary actions).
- Manage and resolve employee relations issues by working with Plant Management, Supervisors, VP of HR, and HR Coordinator to conduct effective, thorough, and objective investigations.
- Assist in communicating/presenting safety processes, procedures, and practices. Promote a safety conscience workforce.
- Assist with recruiting efforts; identify recruiting resources, place job postings with vendors, screening and interviewing candidates.
- Assist in onboarding new employees.
- Assist with administration of company benefit programs.
- Assist in managing Workers’ Compensation claims.
- Maintains necessary HRIS data and provides to plant management as needed.
- Participate in bi-weekly HR Department meetings.
- Assist in special projects with VP of HR and Plant Manager.
- Perform additional duties as necessary or assigned.
Education/Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or Business Administration, or a related field.
- 3+ years HR Generalist experience.
- Experience working in a non-union manufacturing environment is preferred.
- Experience using an HRIS system.
Specific Knowledge, Skills, Licenses, Certifications, Etc.:
- SPHR, PHR, SHRM-CP or SHRM-CSP certification a plus.
- Competent in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel and Outlook.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Detail oriented with ability to be self-directed.
- High level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential situations and documentation.
Physical Effort:
- Ability to sit behind a desk for 8 hours or 8 hours walking/standing on the production floor.
- Ability to work on a PC as required.
