MVP Holdings is a privately owned energy logistics company headquartered in Wichita, KS. MVP and its subsidiaries provide gathering, transportation, processing, storage, distribution, marketing and other midstream services to independent oil and natural gas producers, refiners of petroleum and products and other market participants located throughout the United States.


We are looking for someone to join our team as an HR Generalist.  This position is responsible for daily functions of the department, including administering bi-weekly payroll, reconciliation of benefits, full circle employee life cycle, and management of employee files.  Our ideal candidate will have strong communication skills to work with and gain buy-in at various levels across the organization, while maintaining the upmost confidentiality.  They should also have strong critical thinking skills and be able to learn the 'why' behind processes to understand where there are areas of improvement.  The compensation range for this position depends on experience level and training needs. We offer competitive benefits and our 401K has a $1:$1 match up to 6%, with full vesting upon entry.  


   

Essential Functions

  • Payroll - Verify supervisor timecard approval, compile benefit deduction reports, approve employee changes, and process the standard bi-weekly payroll with strict confidentiality. Maintain high attention to detail while balancing payroll reports to benefit spreadsheet. Researching discrepancies to understand the issue and ensure resolution within tight deadlines. Download, file, and distribute all payroll reports as necessary. Assist employees with technical inquiries regarding the company's HRIS software.
  • Benefits - Reconcile monthly benefit bills and have a solid understanding to use critical thinking skills to know when to question things and dig in further. Process appropriate benefit information regarding employee qualifying events, including COBRA paperwork. Assisting employees with basic benefit coverage questions and ensuring follow-through of appropriate contact for more complex inquiries. 
  • File Management - Maintain employee personnel files, I9 files, and other documentation files. Implement the appropriate retention schedule for each record category.  Compile and distribute reports as necessary.  This may also include other regulatory file management as deemed appropriate, including employment law posters. 
  • Communication - Communicate at various levels across the organization, in multiple formats regarding benefits, policies, practices, payroll, etc. This includes organizing and mailing required communication to employees' company wide as needed. Also, compile content, design/create, and distribute the quarterly newsletter. 
  • Employee Life Cycle - Full circle employee life cycle involvement, including provide recruitment support with resume review, scheduling, conducting candidate interviews, and pre-employment screenings.  Assist new employees with completion of new hire paperwork and ensure they have access to their new systems. Conduct post-hire and exit interviews.  Process and review annual background and MVR checks.  Distribute and document employee trainings as needed.
  • Employee Engagement - Plan, organize, and execute events throughout the year related to HR initiatives. Collaborate with different department heads throughout the company to drive engagement and spread communication. Support company's wellness initiatives by assisting with challenges and wellness program rewards.


Other Functions

Complete other duties and responsibilities as reasonably assigned by management.

Generate efficiencies to improve processes and update the changes in the SOP.

Requirements

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

Maintains upmost confidentiality in communication and processing of employee personnel and HIPAA related information and have the ability to handle sensitive and difficult situations with tact and diplomacy. 

Strong Interpersonal and communication skills; both written and verbal, and able to tailor to the receiver.

Comfortable communicating in-person or remotely, across the organization, one-on-one, or in group settings.

Strong critical thinking skills and attention to detail and ability to process work with accuracy.

Strong ability to use computers with MS Office programs: Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

Advanced knowledge of phones, office machines, including copier, scanner, fax, laminator, and printer.

Basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division)

Able to work effectively in a team environment and independently, per different situations.

Able to work a flexible schedule as needed.

Able to organize and prioritize numerous tasks and complete them under time constraints.

Openness learning new technology and new processes.


Education, Certifications, License

Requires High School Diploma or equivalent.

Bachelor's in Human Resource or related field is preferred.

Requires a valid Driver's License with an insurable Motor Vehicle Report.


Work Experience

1 year of payroll experience is preferred.

HRIS experience in Paylocity is a plus.


Physical Requirements

Ability to perform simple motor skills and gross body coordination such as standing, walking, bending, stooping, filing, sitting, etc. for prolonged periods of time.

Ability to push, pull, and lift 25 lbs. occasionally.


Travel

5%-10% on an as needed basis. 

Occasionally travel for extended periods including overnight stays.
