Job Description
KBS Constructors, Inc. is recruiting a full-time Human Resources Generalist. This position handles multiple areas of HR including employee relations, compensation & benefits, recruiting, performance management, and training and development. The ideal candidate has excellent interpersonal skills, a strong knowledge of HR best practices, and the ability to work with employees at all levels of the organization.
Responsibilities
- Works closely with the Director of Business Administration & other leaders to direct the HR operations of the company in alignment with the law, as well as KBS policies, strategic goals, mission, & vision.
- Partners with employees and management to communicate and train on Human Resources policies, procedures, laws, best practices, standards, and government regulations.
- Maintains a positive working relationship with all employees while adhering to Federal and State employment laws and regulations.
- Coordinates training to meet the goals established by the training committee.
- Organizes company events to foster the KBS culture and promote team building.
- Conducts recruiting process in coordination with hiring manager by posting positions, reviewing applicants, conducting interviews, and overseeing the completion of pre-screening requirements.
- Facilitates background screening process for new hires, annual updates, random and owner requirements.
- Facilitates the onboarding process and conducts new hire orientation.
- Coordinates KBS representation at recruitment events by working with hiring managers to determine which events are worthwhile, enrolling the company & coordinating attendees. May attend events as needed.
- Assists management with employee development initiatives, including development and delivery of training materials, to promote strong employee satisfaction and retention.
- Administers the performance review process and ensures that regular evaluations occur. Analyze and refine review process as needed.
- Responds to employee relations issues, including employee complaints and harassment allegations. Works with management in investigating, answering, and settling grievances. Keeps management apprised of employee related concerns.
- Assists with and provides advisory support to management relating to coaching, disciplinary action, and terminations.
- Conducts exit interviews, analyzing data and making recommendations to management for corrective action and continuous improvement.
- Responds to employment related inquiries, including reference checks, verification of employment, and unemployment claims.
- Maintains HR and employee records.
- Organizes and tracks employee certifications and training, ensuring all company and client requirements are met.
- Updates company policy and employee handbooks for annual distribution. Recommends and helps implement new/revised policies as needed.
- Develops and/or updates job descriptions ensuring compliance with FSLA guidelines.
- Assists with ensuring compliance with union contracts and reporting.
- Assists with workers compensation claims process.
- Assists with Benefit Administration including employee coverage, claims and compliance.
- Manages the FMLA program in compliance with the law, providing guidance to management as needed.
- Facilitates wage and benefits analysis including gathering data, responding to surveys, research, analysis, and presentation of findings.
- Assists with KBS 401k program including enrollments and required reporting & communication.
- Serves as contributing member of compensation committee, training committee, safety committee and other internal and external committees as required.
- Knows and understands the weekly payroll processing procedures and serves as backup for payroll processing in absence of the payroll administrative assistant.
- Assists with Accounting and Administrative tasks as assigned.
- Performs additional duties as directed by supervisor.
Skills
- Experience in recruitment, benefits administration, HR compliance, and employee training & development required.

- Bachelors degree in Human Resources Management or related field
- 2-4 years of HR experience, with experience within the construction industry preferred
- PHR and/or SHRM-CP preferred
- Valid driver's license is required
