Summary: The Human Resource Director will plan, lead, direct, develop, and coordinate the policies, activities, ensuring legal compliance and implementation of the organization's mission.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Identifies legal requirements and government reporting regulations affecting Human Resources functions and ensures policies, procedures, and compliance reporting are up to date.
  • Oversees the analysis, maintenance, and communication of records required by law or local governing bodies, or other departments in the organization.

  • Studies legislation, arbitration decisions, and contracts to assess industry trends.
  • Consults legal counsel to ensure that policies comply with federal and state law.
  • Manages recruiting process company wide.
  • Manages day to day operation of workers compensation including timely claim filing, records retention, return to work accommodations, preparing management reports, and consultation with legal if necessary.
  • Develops and implements new employee orientation to foster positive attitude toward company goals.
  • Develops and maintains a Human Resources system that meets top management information needs.
  • Administers benefits programs such as life, health, dental and disability insurances, vacation, sick time and leaves of absence.
  • Identifies and develops management training programs on the topics of interviewing, hiring, terminations, promotions, performance review, safety, and anti-harassment.
  • Advises management in appropriate resolution of employee relations issues.
  • Develops strategies for employee engagement and makes recommendations.
  • Responds to inquiries regarding policies, procedures, and programs.
  • Plans and implements performance review program to ensure effectiveness, compliance, and equity within organization.
  • Administers salary administration program to ensure compliance and equity within organization.
  • Conducts wage surveys within the labor market to determine competitive wage rate.
  • Conducts investigations of Title VII claims and prepares reports and recommendations for management. May work with legal counsel as needed.
  • Works closely with operations on various tasks which will require time spent on the production floor.
  • Complete annual EEO-1 reports, internal department audits to ensure compliance, and stays current on employment legislation.
  • Prepares draft memos.
  • Must be able to get along with and work effectively with others.
  • Regular and predictable attendance is required. Position is 100% onsite.
  • Establishes relationships with contingent staffing agencies and negotiates competitive contracts
  • Conduct walkthroughs in production/manufacturing facility

​​​​​​Supervisory Responsibilities

This position supervises Human Resources Personnel. Responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and quality of their work. Carries out managerial duties in accordance with the company’s policies and procedures. Responsibilities may include interviewing, hiring, training & development; planning, assigning & directing work; Issuing performance reviews, facilitating action plans, handling terminations and associated processes where necessary, addresses complaints and resolve problems.

Education and/or Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required;
  • At least five years of Human Resource management experience required.
  • SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP highly preferred.

Language Skills

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Computer Skills

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Contact Management systems; Database software; Payroll systems; Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

Current California Driver's License, PHR or SPHR preferred.

Other Skills and Abilities

Ability to speak, read and write Spanish and English.
