The Food Bank of the Hudson Valley (an affiliate of the Regional Food Bank of Northeastern NY and a member of the Feeding America network) is hiring for a Human Resource Coordinator to join our team as we expand our services, and build a new 40,000 square foot warehouse, in Orange county New York.
What you’ll do….
1. Coordinate the on-boarding process for new employees including preparing for and conducting new employee orientation, ensuring all on-boarding tasks are completed, benefit enrollments, verifying I-9 form documents and ensuring the completion of required training.
2. Process benefit plan enrollments, and other changes, in service provider software.
3. Effectively communicate benefit information, respond to benefit questions, and assist with resolving benefit issues. Assist with coordinating annual open enrollment.
4. Assist with leave of absence administration while working with employees to understand leave policies, FMLA, DBL and PFL.
5. Assist employees with routine payroll questions. Seek guidance from the Sr. HR Coordinator as needed. Acts up the back-up payroll processor and processes bi-weekly payroll at least twice per year.
6. Serve as a member of the Safety Committee.
7. Assist the Finance department with tasks related to receiving and sorting mail, sorting and scanning checks to bank’s on-line portal, submitting accounts payable/accounts receivable support documents, and assisting with accounts receivable invoice management.
8. Stay informed about Human Resource regulations and changes and seek opportunities to participate in one or two Human Resource trainings per year.
What you’ll have…..
Associates degree in Accounting, Business Administration or Human Resources and two years of Human Resources experience or equivalent experience. A working understanding of Human Resource principles, practices, and procedures. Good interpersonal skills including the ability to effectively communicate with employees at all levels, both verbally and in writing. Organizational and time management skills with attention to detail. Judgment to plan, organize, and prioritize workload to meet deadlines. Basic Excel skills. Valid NYS driver’s license and the ability to travel occasionally.
