The Opportunity
Abt is looking to hire an Associate to engage on Technical Assistance teams for projects funded by the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) and the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ). The Associate brings significant knowledge of serving the nation’s most vulnerable with high-quality healthcare and services in today’s world and has experience implementing strategies through Technical Assistance projects to improve health outcomes as well as systems changes to increase quality care. The ideal candidate will have expertise in one or more of the following areas: maternal child health, HIV, cardiovascular/chronic disease, rural health, behavioral health, primary care/community health centers, and/or health workforce. The Associate will have a strong understanding of how to apply an equity mindset to Technical Assistance and drive impact.
Core Responsibilities
- Serve as Project Director or Task Lead for HRSA and/or AHRQ projects; manages or leads projects or tasks, including associated teams, staff, deliverables, and budgets.
- Design, implement, and monitor Technical Assistance and capacity building efforts for HRSA and/or AHRQ grantees, states, localities, and community organizations.
- Contribute knowledge of the client context, creative approaches, strategic planning, and information to support and grow HRSA and/or AHRQ projects.
- Engage in proposal development efforts including designing and writing technical approach and identifying optimal staffing for winning bids focused on HRSA and/or AHRQ objectives and/or Technical Assistance.
- Translate client needs and/or objectives into specific deliverables in a timely and cost-efficient manner; review deliverables to meet client standards.
- Inform on the most appropriate practices and techniques for a particular project or objective.
- Disseminate project findings through publication of papers, progress and technical reports and presentation at seminars or conferences.
- Clearly communicate with clients staff at all levels, and other partners orally and in writing.
- Effectively coach others to promote their development, including setting developmental goals and measurements for staff.
- Fosters an environment that embraces diverse perspectives, abilities, racial/ethnic and cultural backgrounds, ages, gender identities and expressions, educational experiences, and life stories.
What We Value
- At least 8 years of work experience (i.e., conducting Technical Assistance and training, direct services/field work, policy, and/or government) in one or more areas of criminal justice.
- Significant experience leading Technical Assistance projects, particularly with HRSA, AHRQ, and/or state agencies.
- Experience planning and delivering Technical Assistance using an equity mindset.
- Experience leading and authoring reports and presenting report findings at conferences.
- Master’s Degree + 7 years of relevant experience, or PhD + 4 years of relevant experience.

This position offers an anticipated annual base salary range of approximately $91,000 to $146,000 may vary by ten percent depending on candidate geographic location. Salary offers are made based on internal equity and market analysis.
