Hr Generalist

JELD-WEN is currently seeking a HR Generalist to join our growing team.

The Opportunity

As a Human Resources Generalist at JELD-WEN, you will be a key member of the Human Resources team. You will be responsible for providing human resources support and services including assisting the HR Manager with day-to-day HR operations. This role will report to the Windows Human Resources Manager.

The position will be based onsite in our Grinnell, IA Windows Plant location.

This position is swing shift with hours Monday - Friday, 4:30pm - 1:30am. Shared services with our Grinnell, IA Doors Plant (across the street) for 3 hours per shift Monday - Thursday. This is an Exempt position.

What You Will Do

• Promote and develop positive employee relations by providing direct HR support to the manufacturing facility.
• Resolve and address all employee questions and concerns by partnering with plant leadership team.
• Assist HR Manager with broader HR responsibilities.
• Conduct preliminary investigations.
• Manage FMLA/LOA's
• Respond to Unemployment claims and Worker Comp claims.
• Respond to facility HR correspondences.
• Recruitment
• Onboarding
• Assess processes and streamline.
• Enforce Federal and State compliance on payroll, employee relations and leaves.
• In consultation with the HR Manager, assist plant leaders with the management of corrective action to drive performance and adherence to company policy.
• Interpret company policies and process to ensure consistency for facility leadership and employees.
• Facilitate employee communications to ensure clarity and understanding.
• Assist in facilitating employee engagement events.
• Support plant operations
• Participate on corporate projects and initiatives.
• Promote and incorporate Corp Values
• Coach and develop leaders on processes, procedures, and performance management.
• Assess plant needs and implant change.
• Create a positive and support HR culture.

Who You Are

• Bachelor's degree in human resources or a related field.
• Bi-Lingual Spanish/English, required.
• 2 - 5 years HR Generalist experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
• PHR / SHRM-CP certification, preferred.
• State and Federal employment compliance knowledge
• Experience handling and resolving a wide range of employee relations issues.
• Kronos timekeeping knowledge, preferred.
• Success Factors software knowledge, preferred.
