The role you'll contribute:
The Employee Relations Senior Specialist provides guidance, information, and recommendations to AdventHealth employees, HR Business Partners, managers, legal counsel, and state/federal agencies in the resolution of Employee Relations problems. This individual serves as the lead in responding to agency claims, including wages, hours, discrimination, and wrongful terminations on behalf of the organization.
The value you'll bring to the team:
- Serves as an Employee Relations expert in specific area of focus which may include, but is not limited to, one or more of the following: EEOC, position statements, restructuring, harassment, discrimination, and discipline
- Provides support for various audits; Responds to claims and/or litigation including collecting data, analyzing data, providing summary information of data, drafting correspondences and/or acting as the liaison between attorneys and agencies
- Analyzes wage data and policy and procedures; Participates in audits as directed by the Employee Relations leadership team
- Assists in developing leadership's ability to manage performance issues through effective coaching and training
- Makes appropriate remedial recommendations to ensure compliance with corporate policies and procedures and employment laws and regulations
- Partners with HR Business Partners, HR Shared Services, and HR Specialized Services to resolve complex Employee Relations issues
- May conduct on-site investigations; Prepares questions, evaluates the information collected, and makes recommendations to appropriate manager or legal counsel as to the resolution of the case
- Ensures adherence to Employee Relations corporate guidelines
- Assists in the development of Employee Relations training regarding discrimination, harassment, workplace violence, union avoidance, and other key Employee Relations topics
- Administers the implementation of proactive programs, procedures, and plans related to Employee Relations issues
- Assists with the development, analysis, and coordination of Employee Relations initiatives that encourage employee retention, job satisfaction, and positive morale
- Stays current on employment law, as well as employment trends; Proactively researches information to ensure compliance, provide appropriate consultation, and avoid/eliminate exposure to the organization
- Documents all Employee Relations matters as appropriate for the situation and in accordance with legal compliance and organizational policies and procedures
The expertise and experiences you'll need to succeed:
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
- Bachelor's degree preferably in Business, Human Resources, or relevant field required
- Minimum of five (5) years of Employee Relations experience required, including conducting investigations
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE PREFERRED:
- Proficiency in ADA, FMLA, worker's compensation, etc. preferred
- Human Capital Management (HCM) experience, especially PeopleSoft, preferred
- Master's degree preferably in Business, Human Resources, or relevant field preferred
