TITLE: Human Resource Director
REPORTS TO: Chief Operating Officer
The Human Resource Director is responsible for overseeing the human resources department of the organization including the Operations team along with the project employees which currently totals over 650 staff. This position will collaborate with CEO and COO to understand the organization's essence and strategy related to staffing, recruiting, and retention. This position requires a strategic leader with comprehensive knowledge who is responsible for ensuring labor law compliance, creating, and distributing HR policies and implementation of all HR policies. This position requires direct interaction with both the projects and funders and will play a significant role in business development contributing to the growth of the organization. Some travel may be required.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
· Foster positive employee relations by addressing concerns, resolving conflicts, and promoting a positive work culture
· Supervise the HR department which includes Payroll, Benefits, Contracts and HR staff
· Consult with SEE human resource attorneys as needed
· Oversee on-boarding and offboarding of all employees in ADP and group health plans
· Oversee the biweekly payroll processing, stepping in as needed
· Implement and oversee performance management programs, including goal setting, performance reviews, and professional development plans
· Engage in staff disciplinary action
· Create, update and ensure distribution of all employee handbooks by region/state
· Communicate with benefit brokers regarding annual open enrollment and ongoing tasks
· Develop, update, and communicate HR policies and procedures, ensuring compliance and legal requirements and best practices
· Supervise annual audits of 403b, insurance policies, including workers compensation policies
· Work with managers and project leads to address performance issues and support employee growth
· Identify training needs and develop programs to enhance employee skills and competencies
· Review qualifications for all independent contractors to be classified as such
· Oversee volunteer applications and waivers
· Present on HR related matters to SEE projects
· Represent SEE at conferences and external meetings
· Performs other duties as required
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
· In-depth knowledge of HR principles, labor laws, and best practices
· Familiarity with non-profit structures, practices and organizational cultures
· Strong leadership and strategic planning skills as well as interpersonal and communication skills, both written and oral
· Demonstrated ability to build and maintain positive employee relations
· Accuracy and attention to detail is absolutely required, as well as a track record of reliability, confidentiality, and conscientious work habits
· Ability to work independently with little supervision
· Ability to organize and prioritize effectively
· Attention to detail with exceptional level of accuracy
· Ability to adapt and work efficiently in a rapidly changing dynamic environment with deadline pressures
· Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software
Education and Experience
· Bachelors degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required; Masters degree preferred
· At least seven years of human resource management experience required
· SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP highly preferred
· Interest in social and environmental justice a plus
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $155,000.00 - $170,000.00 per year
