Reports to: Office of the General Counsel

Salary Range: $140,000-$180,000

Classification: Exempt

FT/PT: Full-time

We are seeking an experienced Director of Human Resources to join our team. The Director of Human Resources should be an expert who is passionate about building culture and systems around labor regulations and worker safety as well as optimizing worker engagement. Reporting directly to the Office of the General Counsel, the Director of Human Resources should be a multifaceted leader, bringing analytical capabilities, leadership, interpersonal skills and intuition to a rapidly growing organization with a social mission focus. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented and able to ensure compliance with relevant labor laws and implementing processes with a growing team to ensure the same. Additionally, the candidate must be passionate about social justice and racial equity. The Director of Human Resources will be assisting with building all aspects of the People Operations function from the ground up. This will include HR, Recruiting, Learning & Development, Racial Equity & Diversity, and overall Culture across all areas of the business.

What You’ll Bring to the Table

  • Undergraduate degree or equivalent is required.
  • Based in Los Angeles, CA region.
  • Spanish speaking preferred.
  • 8-10+ years of progressively more responsibility in the fields of HR, People Operations and/or Talent
  • 3+ years in a supervisory capacity, preferably in a VC-backed emerging growth environment.
  • Proven knowledge of Labor and Employment Law for all circumstances including recruiting, hiring, terminations and compensation.
  • Deep understanding of hourly labor practices and OSHA compliance.
  • Experience working with exempt and nonexempt employees.
  • A strong background and interest in the leadership of People Operations activities across talent acquisition, leadership and development, and compliance and oversight.
  • The ability to engage at the executive level of the organization by interfacing with key leaders across and up the chain to formulate plans and influence talent strategies.
  • Experience building a management playbook with the ability to coach, empower and develop a team.
  • Experience building teams in high volume / fast-paced environments, closing complex positions, negotiating compensation packages and building an innovative and sustainable talent acquisition strategy.
  • The ability to travel to Everytable locations and commissary.

Essential Functions

Policy & Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with labor and employment laws applicable to the Company.
  • Develop, review, and manage (in collaboration with the General Counsel and other members of senior management) the roll-out and adoption of the Company’s employee handbook and all company policies.
  • Work with the General Counsel and outside labor counsel to ensure policies comply with applicable laws and align with company practices.
  • Reduce legal risk in employment law issues wherever possible; when necessary investigate and direct Everytable’s responses to workplace complaints.
  • Oversee processes to ensure the security, confidentiality, and integrity of employee records.
  • Work with the General Counsel and outside labor counsel to ensure worker safety and compliance with worker safety regulations and policies.
  • Promptly implement compliance-oriented training programs for the entire workforce, and ensure a culture of compliance is adopted.
  • Maintain accurate time records and manage timekeeping training and tracking for all teams; monitor timekeeping practices for compliance with applicable laws.
  • Institute and manage processes for identifying and correcting timekeeping and pay errors. Reporting and managing employee attendance, leaves of absence, and performance management (e.g., warnings, letters).
  • Work with the General Counsel and outside counsel to conduct internal investigations into alleged employee misconduct.
  • Conduct periodic training sessions with managers and leaders covering compliance and policies.
  • Assist with developing processes and procedures for various HR employment matters.

Talent Planning, Management, and Retention

  • Direct strategic talent planning across all revenue streams of the business.
  • Develop and execute effective on-boarding/orientation programs.
  • Implement training programs that: 1. Assist managers in supervising and motivating their direct reports, and 2. Help employees grow their skills sets, continuously improving their performance.
  • Ensure that appropriate performance management philosophies, programs and practices are implemented and executed.
  • Develop and keep Everytable’s succession planning current, robust and user-friendly.

People Culture & Professional Development

  • Develop programs to enhance employee morale and recognize employee contributions.
  • Ensure Everytable is a responsible corporate citizen in supporting civic, educational and business activities in the communities they serve.
  • Develop alignment between company values and human resources practices.

Communication & Collaboration

  • Partner with CEO & Senior Leadership to design and implement effective internal communication systems and structures to allow for effective cross-departmental collaboration and communication.
