HR Agility Lead - Job Description

The Human Resources function at JPMorgan Chase is shifting to a product-driven way of working. We are making this change so that we are fully organized around our customers to deliver personalized experiences throughout an employee or manager journey. This shift is a change in the way we organize and prioritize the work that needs to get done to ensure a higher quality output for our customers. Our intention is to build products that our customers love and that work for our businesses. The HR Product Organization sits within Corporate HR and plays an important role in driving our transformation. The organization will lead our efforts to identify outcomes, goals and measures of success across all of our products applying agile principles, continuous discovery and a common set of data architecture and delivery tools.

The Product Agility Lead is responsible for the education, adoption and scaling of agile ways of working and product with all Product Team members and Leaders at a Product level in order to establish a common understanding across the product. The Product Agility Lead will evaluate the health of the portfolio and respective products in order to identify opportunity for improvements around scaling agile and product management, and help the leaders and teams mature their product vision, planning and delivery. This role will be the resident expert of agile and product principles and related methodologies and practices within their respective portfolio. As such, these individuals will need to be involved with internal and external agile and product networks in order to stay current on best practices and seek out opportunities to continuously improve their own skills in order to better support the products.

Training and Certification

The Product Agility Lead will be responsible for understanding and developing shared internal training materials that will apply the principles of agile and product. They will be accountable for ensuring that Product Team members understand these concepts and how they apply to the working processes of their product.

Consulting and Process Improvement

The Product Agility Lead will be responsible for coordinating with partners outside of the Product Teams in order to align teams on outcome based deliverables and drive dependency awareness. They will work closely with partners, particularly other Agility Leads, Product Managers, Engineer Leads, Engineering Leads, to evaluate a Product Teams agile and product maturity and strategies to address gaps. The Product Agility Lead will also participate in the Community of Practice to establish agile and product maturity strategies for the products, coach and educate one-on-one, provide direct feedback based on observations, and be a catalyst for promoting a learning culture.

Coaching Team

Develop and maintain a strong working relationship with the team of agile and technical coaches to share experiences, develop shared training material, and ensure a consistent coaching experience and base-level set of learning for the Product Teams and leaders.

This role requires a wide variety of strengths and capabilities, including:
  • Experience in a strategic agile coaching role for at least 5 years that was diligently applying Agile principles, practices, and theory
  • Deep lean/agile skills including at least 3 years in one or more of the agile roles, Scrum Master, Product Owner, or Agile Team Member
  • Excellent skills in facilitation, training, mentoring and professional coaching
  • Strong social and emotional intelligence
  • Strong experience in at least 1 agile coaching domain and knowledge of the others
  • Understanding of major frameworks (Scrum, Kanban, DevOps, XP, SAFe, LeSS, or Scrum @ Scale) and 3 or more years' experience in at least 1 framework
  • Good skills and knowledge of lean, situational awareness, conflict resolution, continual improvement, empowerment, and increasing transparency
  • Knowledge of various well-documented patterns and techniques (examples: story mapping, example mapping, transformation plans, operating models, team topologies, design thinking, value-stream mapping, scaled agile frameworks)
  • Exposure to organizational change (examples: team design, growth mindset, building learning communities/ Communities of Practice) and co-creating transformation roadmaps

Additional skills preferred, but not required, include:
  • Knowledge of professional coaching approaches
  • Agile Coaching Certification or Professional Coaching Certification
  • SAFe Certification or equivalent
