Job Description
Position Purpose:
The Housing Specialist assists the client as directed by the treatment plan in acquiring and maintaining supportive housing, room and board, and affordable housing with the goal of eliminating barriers to recovery and promoting stabilized housing. The Housing Specialist will actively work to pursue or advocate for expanding housing resources in the community while working closely with the Division of Behavioral Health’s Housing Unit to access appropriate services. Performs administrative tasks involved in the review and maintenance of a caseload of program participants. Duties are performed both in a general office environment and in the field and community where program participants reside.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, Nursing, Education, or a qualifying combination of education and/or experience in the appropriate field. An essential element required of this position is accurate and timely recordkeeping and the ability to use various software products in an electronic health records system.
Must pass background check provided for the agency by the U.S. Department of Justice and the Family Care Safety Registry which includes the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Department of Social Services, Department of Mental Health and Department of Health and Senior Services. Must not be on any “do not hire” list with the Department of Mental Health or the Missouri Division of Family Services. Must have reliable transportation.
