PURPOSE OF POSITION

Covenant House Missouri (CHMO) welcomes youth who are runaway, trafficked, at-risk, or experiencing homelessness with unconditional love, absolute respect, and a place to call home. Beyond shelter and basic needs, we deliver transformative solutions to help young people ages 16 to 24 build productive, independent, and sustainable lives.

The Advancement and Communications Coordinator is instrumental in supporting the advancement team by managing marketing, communications, and social media activities, while also overseeing key department coordination tasks, including KPI goals, department policies and procedures, volunteer screening and onboarding, and maintaining the department calendar.


SUMMARY OF DUTIES


Advancement Department Coordination:

  1. Department, Agency, and KPI Goals:
    • Collect, analyze, and maintain key performance indicators (KPIs) related to fundraising, donor engagement, and other relevant metrics.
    • Collaborate with the advancement team to establish and monitor goals, providing regular reports on progress, trends, deficiencies, etc.
  2. Policies and Procedures:
    • Assist in the development and maintenance of departmental policies and procedures (including volunteer guidelines, gift acceptance policies, branding guidelines, etc.).
    • Ensure compliance with organizational and industry standards, updating documentation as needed.
  3. Volunteer Program Support:
    • Work in conjunction with other members of the Advancement Team to support the screening and onboarding of volunteers, ensuring alignment with organizational needs.
    • Foster a positive volunteer experience, providing support and training as necessary.
  4. Department Calendar:
    • Maintain and update the advancement department calendar, including key events, campaigns, volunteer and community outreach activities, and other important deadlines.
    • Collaborate with team members to ensure timely execution of activities and projects.

Digital Media, Marketing, and Communications Activities:

  • Content Creation:
    • Develop and curate compelling content for various digital platforms, including social media, newsletters, and the organization's website.
    • Collaborate with the Sr. Manager of Advancement and other Advancement Team members to create engaging materials that align seamlessly with the organization's messaging.
    • Write, produce, and post content across multiple platforms such as the web, media releases, electronic and print newsletters, printed materials, and social media.
    • Assist in acquiring and organizing youth success stories, photos, and videos to amplify impactful narratives.
    • Cultivate relationships with media outlets to enhance the organization's media presence.
  • Graphic Design:
    • Design visually appealing graphics for marketing materials, social media posts, and other promotional content using tools like Canva or other design programs.
    • Ensure consistent branding and messaging across all digital and print materials, including documents displayed in CHMO facilities.
    • Provide support for events through active participation, designing materials, and securing media coverage.
  • Online, Digital, and Social Media Management:
    • Manage and execute social media strategies to enhance engagement and expand reach.
    • Develop and implement a comprehensive social media plan and calendar.
    • Monitor trends, promptly respond to inquiries, and maintain a cohesive online presence.
    • Track social media engagements, likes, followers, and other relevant site metrics to assess and refine strategy.
    • Contribute to the development and maintenance of the organization's website and Intranet.

SUPERVISORY DUTIES

WORKING RELATIONSHIPS

  • Regular contact with all CHMO staff, vendors, suppliers, board members, volunteers, and outside agencies.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Proficiency with Social Media platforms
  • Experience with MS Office applications such as Microsoft Word and Excel required.
  • Experience with design software, such as InDesign and Canva.
  • Experience in web design.
  • Ability to proactively organize and prioritize work, resolve problems, and manage multiple activities simultaneously.
  • Strong interpersonal skills in interacting with staff, volunteers, guests, donors, and media.

Education & Experience Requirements

  • High School Diploma, Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • 2-3 years of experience directly working with volunteers, special events, and administrative duties.
  • Previous experience working in human service agencies and/or with the homeless population is a plus.

  • Technical Proficiency: Well-versed in Microsoft Office and the Windows environment, with knowledge of Donor Perfect or other donor database platforms is an additional asset.

SALARY RANGE: $38,937-$45,427.

  • This position is eligible for full benefits offered by CHMO.
