*This position requires residency at the house* Expected hours: Thursday-Mon 7-11 am + 4-8 pm

MISSION STATEMENT

The mission of Experience Structured Living is to provide a unique blend of housing and support services tailored to individuals coping with mental health conditions and to go beyond traditional housing by fostering an environment that promotes independence and resilience.

  • ESL ensures all clients are treated with compassion, respect, and dignity regardless of race, creed, age, sex, handicaps, or sexual orientation.
  • ESL employees are competent and responsible personnel who adhere to a strict code of professional ethics which include but are not limited to the prohibition of fraternization with clients, exploitation of clients, or any criminal behaviors.

  • Appropriate availability of alternative treatment modalities is made at any time before during or after treatment if they are requested or the client’s needs are out of the scope of our practice.
  • ESL will ensure that discharge from housing/treatment is conducted in accordance with California rule standards.
  • ESL will take all necessary and appropriate measures to maintain individual client records and information in a confidential and professional manner.
  • ESL strives to maintain positive relations with the surrounding community and pursues every reasonable action to encourage responsible client behaviors and community safety.

SUMMARY

The House Manager at ESL is responsible for performing advanced indirect and selected direct client care duties in support of the clients living skills program in a competent manner under the direction of the Housing Director. The House Manager provides general oversight of the housing environment and reports all environmental needs as it relates to supporting clients, to the operations and housing director. The House Manager also conducts Case Management duties including but not limited to assessing, planning and facilitating care coordination to meet the client's individual needs.

Age of Client Population Served: Adult (18 & older)

Population Served: Persons meeting DSM5 criteria for substance use disorders with or without cooccurring psychiatric illness, and psychiatric illness with or without substance use disorders.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ensure all clients are woken up by 7:00 a.m.
  • Facilitate morning meeting/meditation and chores
  • Make sure client’s maintain proper hygiene and dress appropriately
  • Review client schedule daily and specify outside appointments and activities
  • Conduct a weekly inventory of client medications and contact MS Department to ensure timely refills
  • Observe clients taking daily medications as prescribed adhering to medications times
  • Communicate with the MS Department and Directors of medication incident reports and med changes needed.
  • Facilitate client transportation to CCI and outside appointments and activities in a timely manner
  • Conduct meal planning sessions and ensuring clients have listed all necessary ingredients for their meals and create the grocery list
  • Manage weekly household expenses providing receipts and reporting remaining funds
  • Counsel clients as needed for behavioral issues
  • Updated Master Schedule Board and Client Information Station with schedule changes and chore list
  • Implement weekly UA test schedule and confirm
  • Oversee preparation for new clients in housing (make bed, notify existing clients of new addition 19. to their room, etc.)
  • Ensure clients are attending three outside meetings a week
  • Collect and review client Meeting Attendance Sheets and Pass Requests
  • Schedule daily store-runs and manage cash and/or credit cards dispensed
  • Conduct Pass down with Support Staff

MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS

Education, Training, and Experience Required:

  • High school diploma or equivalent and one (1) year of experience in behavioral health care, preferred.
  • Attainment of at least 18 years of age
  • A Health Screening with negative TB Test Results  Current CPR/ First Aid certification.
  • D.L. or Government I.D.
  • Should be experienced House Manager or Mental Health Technician, preferably in the field of chemical dependency and/or behavioral health.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of industry standards as related to the position of House Manager.
  • Basic knowledge of PC software programs, particularly Microsoft Word and Excel is preferred.
  • Written and oral communication skills; must be able to concentrate on work amid distractions such as noise, conversations and foot traffic
  • Must maintain self-control in volatile or hostile situations such as when verbally or physically confronted in an aggressive manner
  • Must be able to work independently with little supervision in an unstructured environment with multiple demands
  • Must possess a reading and writing level that provides for clear expression and/or understanding of assignments related to job description.
  • Ability to represent the program well in interactions both inside and outside the facility

  • Maintains refrigeration temperature log
  • Utilizes supplies in a cost-effective manner
  • Maintains equipment in proper working order and follows correct procedures in equipment use

  • Actively participates in performance improvement and continuous quality improvement activities.
  • Complies with all organizational policies regarding ethical business practices.
  • Communicates the mission, ethics and goals of the program.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORKING CONDITIONS:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand or sit for extended periods of time. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

The job requires frequent contact with water (hand washing and cleaning) and working with body fluid and hazardous chemicals. When under these working conditions, OSHA standards and universal precautions must be followed always.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee must be able to work in a fast-paced environment with minimal to high volumes of stress.
