Hospice Volunteer

Lily Hospice is currently seeking caring Volunteers for our Volunteer Department. We are a fast growing agency based out of Troy, MI.

Overview: The Volunteer serves as a member of the hospice team, providing respite services for families and/or administrative assistance to the organization. All asks are performed under the direct supervision by experienced hospice team members, and may include any of the following:

• patient care activities -friendly visitor/companionship, light housekeeping tasks, meals, errands, respite sitting, reading/letter writing, etc.
• administrative/office work- putting together admission packets, filing, data entry, phone calls, mailing sympathy cards, etc.

All volunteers complete an orientation to the hospice philosophy of care and an orientation to the organization.

This is a part-time volunteer based position (unpaid). Perfect for retirees and college students that are looking to gain field hours in healthcare.

Qualifications:
Must be 18 years or older to be able to visit with patients.
Must be 16 years or older to be an office volunteer.
Lives in general hospice service areas of Wayne, Oakland or Macomb counties.
Has reliable transportation, drivers license and auto insurance.
Willingness to be positive with patients, respect patient privacy and demonstrate appropriate sensitivity of death/dying
