Job Title: GSEC General Manager
Department: Great Southwest Equestrian Center (GSEC)
Job Objective:
- Essential Job Responsibilities:
- To develop and refine the strategic direction of GSEC making it the leading multi-discipline equine facility in the region
- To be a visible and available resource at events, including weekends, ensuring the needs are met of all participants.
- Expected to wear many hats within the organization and continue to develop the welcoming culture in which clients, competitors and staff succeed.
- To organize, motivate, and mentor the staff to grow the organization’s impact with innovative thinking and effective performance measurement.
- Foster a culture that encourages collaboration between all levels of staff within the organization.
- Oversight of hiring process, ongoing staff development, performance management and determining compensation and benefits.
- To engage in fiscal management in cooperation with the Controller; to routinely report performance and financial activities to ownership and to plan, actively manage, and oversee the organization’s programs, fundraising and operations.
- To effectively represent the organization and promote a positive image to relevant parties in the equine world as well as to donors and supporters, other foundations etc., and to ensure adequate community representation.
- Collaboration with the Operations Manager to see growth and expand on current and potential show opportunities.
- Sourcing and securing of additional events, shows, and activities for the venue for future years.

- Maintains technical knowledge by attending educational workshops and reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional associations.
Qualifications:
- Five (5) years minimum Horse Show management experience of all disciplines
- Ability to use social media Facebook, Twitter etc. to promote shows and events
- Knowledge of formal business correspondence
- Ability to partner with and communicate effectively with all levels of management
- Excellent verbal communication skills
- Strong organizational skills necessary
- Ability to give full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, and asking questions as appropriate.
- Ability to use logic and reason to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.
- Ability to manage time effectively for oneself and the team associated with the show.
- Ability to actively look for ways to help people and serve the customer’s needs.
- Ability to consider the relative costs and benefits of potential actions to choose the most appropriate one.
- Must be available to work weekends, holidays and extended hours
- Clean background check and DPS record
- Proficiency in the use and application of the following software:
Required: Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook).
