Histology Technician

Responsibilities:

• Processes specimens for histological examination which may include grossing, embedding, microtomy, and routine staining. 40%
• Processes special stains and Immunohistochemical slides for microscopic analysis. Prepares slides for ancillary testing. 35%
• Performs routine maintenance of histology instrumentation. 5%
• Monitors inventory at work stations and requests supplies needed. 5%
• May coordinates laboratory research projects. 5%
• Resolves discrepancies with minimal oversight and seeks help as needed. 5%
• Performs other related duties and training as assigned. 5%
• Ensures compliance with all regulatory agencies including CAP.
• Adheres to all safety policies and procedures.
• Assures accurate specimen labeling and maintains the integrity of specimen records through approved identification procedures.
• Maintains procedures and records in accordance with regulatory standards.

Job Type: Contract

Pay: $65.00 - $70.00 per hour

Experience:

• Clinical Histology Technician: 2 years (Required)

License/Certification:

• BLS Certification (Required)
• NYS licensed as a Histology Technician or MLT (Required)
• Covid vaccine (Required)
