HELP DESK AND TRAINING SPECIALIST

The Help Desk and Training Specialist provides support and first-tier technical assistance to legislative staff and members to troubleshoot computer problems and answer questions relating to supported computer software and hardware systems. This position works with Legislative Information Technology staff to provide responsive assistance to legislative staff and members and to record and track the resolution of requests for assistance in the Help Desk software. This Help Desk and Training Specialist also has an advanced knowledge of MS Office applications including Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint and an ability to develop curricula and train others in a classroom setting. An individual in this position has at least an intermediate knowledge of PC functionality, network connectivity and phone systems; and an ability to gain basic knowledge of the user interface for in-house developed systems and core legislative systems.
Minimum Qualifications
A minimum of a two-year technical degree is preferred. Equivalent combination of experience and education will be considered
Microsoft Office Specialist certification for Office 2019/M365 required. MS Office Specialist Associate certification for Office 2019/M365 preferred
General knowledge of PC's and operating systems
Knowledge of ManageEngine Service Desk preferred
Knowledge of WordPress preferred
Aptitude and interest in maintaining technical knowledge in support of current and future departmental responsibilities
The required skills set will change constantly and a demonstrated commitment to continuing education is important
Strong customer service skills
Excellent communication skills
Ability to lift 20 pounds
Highly organized and detail-oriented
The salary range for this position starts at $48,027.20. The bi-weekly dollar values of some State-paid benefits for full-time employees include $14.60 for dental insurance; 13.16% of employee's pay towards retirement; and, depending on the employee's annual pay, at least 85% ($438.47) of health insurance premiums. Initial year vacation and additional paid leave ranges from 4 to 8 weeks plus 13 paid holidays.
