The Heavy Equipment Mechanic performs routine maintenance and other mechanical duties set forth by the Shop Foreman, all while maintaining a safe working environment and staying within quality standards.

Responsibilities
- Clean, lubricate, and perform other routine maintenance work on equipment; maintain service records.
- Examine parts for damage or excessive wear; repair and replace damaged or worn parts.
- Operate and inspect equipment to diagnose faults or malfunctions to determine required repairs.
- Overhaul and test machines or equipment to ensure operating efficiency.
- Adjust, maintain, and repair or replace subassemblies, such as transmissions and crawler heads, using hand tools, jacks, and cranes.
- Assemble gear systems and align frames and gears.
- Fit bearings to adjust, repair, or overhaul mobile mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumaic equipment.
- Fabricate needed parts or items from sheet metal.
- Weld or solder broken parts and structural members.
- Test mechanical products and equipment after repair or assembly to ensure proper performance and compliance with manufacturers' specifications.
- Direct workers who are assembling or disassembling equipment or cleaning parts.
- Dismantle and reassemble Heavy Equipment using hoists and hand tools.

Qualifications
Skill Requirements
- Must possess and maintain CDL "B" License minimum
- Read and understand operating manuals, blueprints, and technical drawings.
- Use engine diagnostic equipment such as computerized test equipment and calibration devices, micrometers and gauges
- Use electric or gas welders and soldering tools.
- Minimum of 5 years practical experience in the repair and maintenance of Heavy Equipment and machines.
- Inspection Certification for Heavy Truck / Manlift preferred.
- OSHA 10
Physical Requirements
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
- Must pass a pre-employment drug test and be subject to random testing during course of employment.
- Possess the coordination, physical strength, and agility to complete required tasks within the allotted time frame.
- Able to quickly and repeatedly bend, stretch, twist, or reach out with body, arms and/or legs without restriction.
- Acceptable visual acuity, either corrected or uncorrected.

- Press breaks up to 12' long with 250 ton capacities
