Job Description
This position requires solid mechanical skills and fleet management leadership skills to ensure that the fleet & equipment is ready to safely work each day & is in compliance with DOT standards.
The Key Roles include the following:
· Vehicle Safety Inspection
· Field support during work hours
· Repairs/Maintenance. As needed or per schedule
· Schedule major repairs with 3rd party
· Parts ordering and tracking
· Management of WEX GPS
Daily Responsibilities - The Fleet Mechanic is responsible for ensuring that ALL vehicle and equipment are ready to safely function each day. They are also responsible for preventive maintenance schedule as well as field repairs in instance of break down.
Before Workday:
· Ensure that DOT DRIVER’S VEHICLE INSPECTION REPORT is completed & turned in to PM
· Ensure operators have completed ALL Preventive Maintenance Checks and Services (PMCS), prior to roll-out in the morning
· Assist in addressing any issues found during inspection
During Workday
· Purchase/order parts and make repairs/perform maintenance on vehicles and equipment
· Schedule and follow up on any 3rd party repairs required
· Review WEX GPS MAP TRACKER to ensure ALL vehicle and equipment GPS units are installed and functioning
· Make any field repairs ensuring crews can perform during the workday
· Manage roadblocks
