Description & Details: To assist the Lead Heating Plant Operator in the duties & Responsibilities for the 24-hour operation of the Heating Plant for generation of steam to provide energy for environmental comfort usage in state, city federal government and campus facilities located at North Dakota State University. Responsibilities: The Heating Plant Entry Operator will perform duties associated with the production and operation of four high pressure steam generating water tube boilers, two of which use natural gas/oil as fuel sources, two of which use coal as fuel sources, with a total capability of producing in excess of 200,000 pounds of steam per hour; Assist the Heating Plant Supervisors and/or the Heating Plant Lead Operator in performing preventive maintenance and repairs to the facility and equipment; Performs general housekeeping duties to the facility.
Work Schedule: ROTATING SHIFTS - 40 hours per week
Advertised Salary: $47,000 min / yr DOE
Minimum Qualifications: High School Diploma or GED; One (1) year of mechanical experience or formal education using varied hand and power tools used in the mechanical trade.
Preferred Qualifications: Two (2) year technical degree in industrial maintenance or equivalent trade (ie: HVAC, Plumbing, Electrical); Boiler License or Certificate; Commercial Driver's License with Air Brake Endorsement.
