Job Title: 2nd Shift Heat Treating Operator
Position Summary: As a Heat Treating Operator on our 2nd shift, you'll play a crucial role in setting up, operating, and tending heating equipment to ensure the optimal hardening, annealing, and heat-treatment of metal components. Your responsibilities will include reading production schedules, determining processing sequences, and performing essential tasks to maintain furnace operations and metal quality.
Key Responsibilities:
- Set up, operate, and tend machines such as furnaces and baths to heat-treat metal components.
- Read production schedules and work orders to determine processing sequences, furnace temperatures, and heat cycle requirements.
- Record temperature and time data accurately to ensure compliance with specifications.
- Determine types and temperatures of baths and quenching media needed to achieve desired part hardness, toughness, and ductility.
- Prep tooling, load and unload furnaces, rack components, and perform routine furnace maintenance.
- Conduct System Accuracy tests and Hardness tests as required.
- Safely move parts throughout the facility using forklifts, hoists, and other equipment.
- Complete necessary paperwork and documentation accurately and on time.
- Adhere to safety guidelines and wear personal protective equipment at all times.
Skills and Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Proficiency in reading and writing English, with strong reading comprehension skills.
- Basic math skills.
- Ability to stand for extended periods, lift, squat, bend, and reach on a daily basis.
- Capability to occasionally lift over 50 lbs.
- Effective communication skills to interact with coworkers and supervisors.
- General understanding of computers.
- Prior experience in Heat Treating sheet metal is required.
