Job Description
Position summary: Heat Treating Operators set up, operate, or tend heating equipment.
Job duties:
- The main responsibilities as a Heat Treat Operator is to Set up and operate or tend machines, such as furnaces, baths, etc. that harden, anneal, and heat-treat metal.
- Daily, Heat Treating Operators Read production schedules and work orders/Jobs to determine processing sequence, furnace temperatures, and heat cycle requirements for objects to be heat-treated. Record times that parts are removed from furnaces to document that objects have attained specified temperatures for specified times.
- Sometimes may also Determine types and temperatures of baths and quenching media needed to attain specified part hardness, toughness, and ductility, using heat-treating charts and knowledge of methods, equipment, and metals.
- Other responsibilities include prepping tooling, loading and unloading furnaces, racking, and perform daily, weekly, monthly and yearly furnace maintenance. Perform System Accuracy test, Hardness test. Move parts throughout the facility using forklifts, hoists, jack pallet, rolling carts. Complete paperwork as needed.
- Must follow safety guidelines and wear personal protective equipment
Skills:
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Read & write English
- Strong reading comprehension
- Basic math
- Stand in place for extended periods of time
- Lift, squat, bend, reach on a daily basis
- Occasionally lift over 50 lbs
- Communicate with co-workers and supervisors
- A general understanding of computers is also required
- Heat treat experience helpful
- Forklift experience helpful
- Manufacturing experience helpful
- Due to export compliance regulations, potential employee must be a US Person.
