The Iowa Department of Public Health (IDPH) and Department of Human Services (DHS) merged on July 1, 2022, to form one agency, the Iowa Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). We are seeking a Healthcare Associated Infections Regional Nurse Clinician.
This position will serve as the Healthcare Associated Infections Regional Nurse Clinician and be responsible for the following activities:
- Serve as the point of contact for infection prevention and Healthcare Associated infection technical assistance for healthcare clinics, long term care facilities, congregate living settings, ambulatory care centers, and hospitals in assigned jurisdiction.
- Provide situation specific consultation to public health and healthcare partners. Represent the Department at relevant meetings within assigned jurisdiction.
- Serve as the National Healthcare Safety Network (NHSN) subject matter expert for reporting entities located within assigned jurisdiction. Provide consultation to reporting entities. Regularly run NHSN data reports and discuss findings with reporting entities. Validate NHSN reported data and address discrepancies with reporting entities.
- Conduct Infection Control Assessment and Response Program consultations in accordance with program guidance at healthcare and congregate living facilities located in assigned jurisdiction.
- Investigate cases of multi-drug resistant organisms reported within assigned jurisdiction. Lead Healthcare Associated infection-related outbreak investigations occurring within assigned jurisdiction. Provide general infection prevention support to the Center for Acute Disease Epidemiology.
- When assigned, provide 24/7 on-call coverage for infectious diseases impacting CADE.

6 months' experience, 12 semester hours, or a combination of both in:
- General professional nursing experience (which could have come from several different programs)
