Maintain awareness of workload of co-workers and offer assistance as needed.Responsible for initial nursing assessment of all patients prior to being seen by the physician. Assist physicians as needed. Provide correct health information either by phone or via mail.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsible for rooming patients, to include but not limited to:
- Vitals
- Initial assessment.
- Provide necessary educational material and follow-up as needed.
Initial assessment of incoming results, to include but not limited to:
- Labs / bloodwork
- Pap tests
- Ultrasounds
- Other outpatient testing
Notify patients of completed results as instructed by physician either by phone or mail.
Triage incoming phone calls, to include but not limited to:
- Return calls to patients to answer with appropriate information to include communication with physician if necessary
Medication refills/ sample distribution:
- Any medication given must be documented and approved by a physician.
- Answer calls concerning medication refills.
- Distribute sample medication as appropriate.
Schedule surgery / other tests
- Call surgery facility, give them required information
- Document pertinent information in surgery book / patient chart
- Obtain insurance approval as necessary
Provide support to physicians/providers to include but not limited to:
Assist with procedures
Provide support to patients and family members as necessary
Participate in educational programs to include OB/GYN related topics.
Maintain current
- License/Certification
- CPR certification
- Mandatory Reporter
Maintain professional environment and attitude.
Assist with maintaining appropriate supply inventory
Sterilize instruments
Any other duties as requested by physicians and/or supervisory staff.
SKILLS REQUIREDExcellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to adapt to changes in duties and office policies
Phlebotomy experience
General computer knowledge to include ability to adapt to office software
EDUCATIONCurrent Iowa Registered Nurse license.
