FUNCTION:
Exempt position. Provide Industrial Health and Safety leadership to the facility including guidelines to ensure compliance with applicable federal and state laws, regulations and policies.
DUTIES:
•Will work in a RCRA regulated TSDF facility with radioactive material.
•Maintain full facility compliance with OSHA & RCRA regulations, License & Permit requirements and facility procedures.
•Report, investigate and track incidents and accidents; make recommendations to improve performance.
•Oversee, develop, provide and implement initial and refresher Health & Safety training programs.
•Track progress on Safety goals and recognition.
•Advise management of issues of concern in areas of Safety and Health.
•Administer and maintain OSHA required medical surveillance program.
•Stimulate site awareness of safety by using near miss documentation, lessons learned or other mentoring activities.
•Conduct Activity Hazard Analyses (AHA) to ensure controls are established for conducting work safely.
•Conduct facility Health & Safety surveillance activities to ensure compliance to AHA and HS procedures.
•Coordinate review of project expansion programs from safety viewpoint.
•Assist in projects and recommend improvements and repairs to improve plant safety performance.
•Administer Workman's Compensation Program.
•Administer loss prevention program; (Fire Protection, Fire Responses).
•Administer Emergency Preparedness Program.
•Maintain required EPA and OSHA reports and logs.
•Administer process safety management program.
•Administer and execute Facility Contingency Plan when necessary.
•Create and administer Health & Safety SOP's and JHA's.
•Other duties as assigned.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Office environment approximately 50% / Facility and Process areas approximately 50%.
Requirements
•Minimum B.S. or equivalent experience and education, preferably in Occupational Health & Safety
•Basic understanding of OSHA 29 CFR 1926 & 1910, EPA and State regulations.
•Five (5) or more years of hands-on Health & Safety experience in an industrial or TSDF setting.
•Ability to use Microsoft Word, Excel, and Power Point.
•Excellent oral and written communication skills to effectively interface with all levels of management and company personnel.
•Attention to detail and strong organizational skills
•Strong verbal and written comprehension and communication skills.
•Current HAZWOPER certified.
•Customer Relations
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
•Professional certification such as an Associate Safety Professional ASP), Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH).
•Experience in a waste processing facility
