Environmental Health and Safety Manager

Job Summary

Reporting to the Plant Manager, you will lead us in the Environment, Health and Safety (EHS) function and our efforts to ensure operations minimize the impact upon the environment and provide a safe work environment. Lead and support the development of a facility wide EHS management system through technical support, program development, training and mentoring, and relationship building. Promote and lead site culture evolution towards proactive EHS risk recognition and mitigation, safe work behaviors and world-class results. Ensure accomplishment and maintenance of compliance with applicable EHS laws and regulations with necessary documentation demonstrating continued compliance. Plan, develop and deliver programs to train managers and employees in work site safety and environmental practices. Promote sustainability and good corporate stewardship by working with all departments to analyze current processes, use and waste generated by site operations, establish baselines, and recommend improvements. Analyze losses to understand causal factors and develop corrective and preventive actions to address system, process and cultural gaps leading to incidents. Lead data analysis efforts to identify trends and opportunities to prevent future EHS losses and promote continuous improvement.

You will:

• Manage all aspects of environmental, health, safety and sustainable development programs
• · Direct environmental compliance and performance functions following government regulations, corporate compliance guidelines and applicable environmental requirements
• · Ensure submittal of all environmental reports
• · Promote a zero incident work environment by developing systems, processes and programs that recognize and mitigate risk to prevent incidents
• · Plan and deliver programs to train managers and employees in workplace safety practices and safe behaviors
• · Help with incident investigations and support incident report preparation by company policy and regulatory agencies
• · Conduct inspections and audits in plant and at other facilities to detect existing hazard and risk and determine systemic corrective or preventative measures
• · Facilitate the Employee Safety/EHS committee team and process by active participation in the process and being a resource for such groups
• · Administer initial Workers Compensation claim submittal and responsibilities
• · Guide and direct plant toward compliance with State, Federal and local Safety and Environmental regulations
• · Determine and direct necessary compliance training for all individuals to assure OSHA, TOSHA, EPA and ConAgra training requirements

You will have:

• Bachelor's degree from a four-year university in Industrial Hygiene, Safety Management, Environmental Healthy
• 5+Minimum of five years industrial safety experience a
• Experience building and leading teams
• Experience with OSHA, EPA and DOT regulations
• Experience interpreting State and Federal regulations and applicability to facility to ensure compliance
• Ability to write regulatory reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals
• Experience performing risk assessments
• Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
