Environmental Health & Safety Manager

Position Summary

The Environmental Health & Safety Manager position requires knowledge/experience managing processes and policies to ensure a safe and healthy work environment in the company. The position requires oversite of worker compensation and safety compliance in a multi-state organization. This role requires collaboration with facility leadership to build a sustainable safety culture and a commitment to process safety improvement.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:

• Collaborates with the Director of Environmental Health Safety & Facilities to develop, prepare, and implement safety policies and procedures company wide.
• Inspects facilities to identify safety, health, and environmental risk to ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local laws, regulations, codes, and rules.
• Develops and implements inspection policies, processes, and procedures for all areas of the company.
• Manages all related EHS Permits.
• Ensures completion of all required OSHA recordkeeping and reporting.
• Identifies opportunities to minimize workplace injuries, accidents, and health problems.
• Reviews safety training and recommends revisions, improvements, and updates.
• Conducts safety inspections and audits to assess employee compliance with safety regulations.
• Responsible for preparing & scheduling training to cover emergency procedures, workplace safety, and other relevant topics.
• Monitors compliance with safety procedures.
• Drafts inspection reports to document inspection findings.
• Ensures that material safety data sheets are maintained and readily accessible when needed.
• Maintains records of discharge of employee exposure to hazardous waste and/or pollutants, as required.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)

• Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft applications – Word, Excel, Outlook, and Power point
• Excellent written, organizational, and verbal communication skills in English
• Ability to adapt and quickly build rapport with clients and consumers
• Comfortable with change & adaptation to new systems & workflow
• Extensive knowledge of environmental regulations and policies, especially California and Washington State.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
• Proficient in technology and equipment used in environmental inspections.
• Bachelor’s degree in health and safety, Safety Engineering, Environmental Health, or related field recommended but not required.
• At least five years of occupational health and safety experience in an industrial environment required, specifically California and Washington State. International experience is a plus
• Professional Credential Preferred: CSP, ASP or Equivalent
• Ability to travel up to 50% of the time
