We are seeking a full-time Health & Safety Coordinator at our North Bergen, NJ facility. This is a chance to develop a culture of occupational safety and food safety as you build the program from the ground up. You will take ownership for maintaining compliance with regulatory requirements related to health and safety at W.Y. Industries.
The ideal candidate should have at least 3 years of experience related to implementing and administering safety and health programs in a food manufacturing environment and have the drive and passion to spearhead new initiatives.
Responsibilities and Duties include but are not limited to:
- Assessing Health & Safety needs and developing policies, procedures and tools to effectively implement safety programs throughout the company.
- Monitoring production to promote safe working conditions and enforcing safety practices and procedures on the production floor and in the warehouse.
- Designing, developing and delivering health and safety training and maintaining and updating training records.
- Developing and implementing revamped food safety policies and procedures relating to the manufacturing of condiments and food containers
- Conducting regular food safety testing in-house and through third party testing laboratories
- Submitting documentation for and maintain recordkeeping of all relevant registrations, certifications, applications, etc.
- Coordinating and preparing for inspections and audits and implementing changes for follow-up
Qualifications and Skills:
- Either an educational background in Occupational Health & Safety, Industrial Engineering, Food Science, Environmental Science, OR a combination of experience and training that demonstrates the ability to perform the key responsibilities of this job
- Knowledge of federal, state, and local industrial & Safety rules, regulations, and related strategies
- Capable of coordinating with cross functional teams to promote a safety culture
- Excellent written and oral communication skills – bilingual strongly preferred in either English/Chinese or English/Spanish
- Must be organized, detail-oriented, and willing to learn and drive new initiatives
Physical demands:
- Employee can expect to spend up to ~70-80% of their time in a factory & warehouse environment. Employee may be required to stand, walk, sit, reach with hand and arms to stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and/or climb stairs or ladders. Occasional lifting and/or moving up to 50lbs can be expected.
